Being a father was the greatest gift to him. Hearing somebody call him "dad" made butterflies rush through his stomach, he thought it was fate.

Addy and Natalie were the two most precious people to him, but Addy and him had a special bond. He didn't want to choose favorites, he loved both of his daughters with everything inside of him, but him and Addy were always so much closer.

Natalie was obsessed with y/n and Addy was him. He brought her out to ice cream whenever she had to get a shot or go somewhere she didn't want to go. She always hung around him, they went everywhere appropriate together.

He brought her to the park after school. They played with the football that he got from Darry after Ponyboy and Sodapop moved out. They passed it back and forth before y/n called him and they had to go home.

She cooked dinner and she was acting cold the entire night. He sent Addy to play with Natalie and he sat across her on the couch. "What's the matter?" He tried grabbing her hand and she jerked it away and grabbed a letter.

"Changed man? I believed you for the past 7 years, you were a different man. Up until, I was just going through our mail and got a letter from the police department asking you to go to court because you got into fucking trouble! You got into another fight?!" She got angry and what they didn't know that Addy had slipped around the corner and was watching them.

"Doll-" He tried to defend himself but she didn't want to listen. "Explain yourself without excuses." She crossed her arms and he looked down.

"Addy was scared of him. So I threw some punches. The cops got called and I handled the situation." She threw the letter at him and stood up.

"When we're you gonna tell me? You're setting a terrible example for both of your daughters!" She yelled in his face and he stood up.

"Don't get in my face." He said sternly and she stood up straight. "I'll do what I fucking want." She said in a low voice. He stepped closer.

"You treat me like shit, y/n, I make one damn mistake and you act like I just murdered our entire family." He spat and her breath hitched.

"You got in trouble with the damn fuzz! You're fucking stupid and worthless!" She yelled. Addy ran into the room and pushed her mother and he grabbed her. "Adeline Theodora! What are you doing?! You don't push your mother!" He yelled before realized she was crying. He, instead of punishing her for pushing her mother, grabbed her and picked her up and hugged her and let her cry.

"Daddy she called you names!" She cried out and continued to sob. It broke his heart to hear this. He didn't say anything and she stood and crossed her arms and she looked sad too.

She knew that she was trying to protect Dally, and it warmed and broke her heart at the same time. She didn't know what to say, she was very grateful to know that Addy and Dally had each other's backs when worse came to worse, but she didn't want her doing this.

"Addy?" Y/n spoke up. Addy wiped away her tears and looked at her mom. "I appreciate you protecting daddy, I'm sorry." She said and he clenched his jaw.

"He made some mistakes too though. And I want you to know that we don't hit- or push when we're mad or upset." She smiled and Addy nodded and hugged her dad again. He looked at her and made eye contact and she smiled weakly, and mouthed 'I love you.'

He knew that he made mistakes, and he regretted it, but he also knew that he was protecting his family, so it was worth it in the end.
