She walked up to the house like she never been here before, she was different, skinnier, paler, sicker. She sat down on the couch and I approached her carefully.

"Where's the girl I used to know?" I whispered looking at her, and she only looked at me with her cold eyes.

"I'm love bitten baby, don't you know?"

I rolled my eyes. "Mocking me now, aren't ya sweetie?" I said and she smirked a cocky smirk. She looked back down and I noticed her getting worse by the second. I crouched down and lifted her chin to look at me. The fear in her eyes, her new man. Then, the gang bursted through the door, and started shouting around. She flinched at the noise and I looked away and pulled my hand away.

"Did you guys...?" Johnny suggested but she shook her head quickly and I just looked at him, he knew the look.

I looked back at her once more and shot her a glance. I was hoping she'd get the message, I wanted to talk to her. I wanted her to tell me about this guy, she wasn't in love. I knew when she was in love and she was abused. Her new little boyfriend wasn't giving her what she wanted or needed.

I stood up and pulled out a joint and went outside and lit it. The marijuana made me feel like I've never felt before, like I could let loose and not care about my reputation. That gets tiring even for a hood.

"Whoa Dal, a joint? What's got you feeling today?" Ponyboy asked and I shot him a glare and took a drag.

"Those could kill you." She spoke up. Her voice was scratchy and weak, like she had been screaming for too long.

"I'm here for a good time, not a long time, Doll." I could see something light up on her face, I only called her Doll when I wanted to let her know I'm there for her. Darry closed the door when the smoke blew in while I was trying to read her facial expressions. I took a drag and sat down on the bench outside and smoked it till there was barely anything left of it. I stomped out the ash and stepped back inside and leaned against the wall nonchalant. The one bad thing about my high is that I could tell the truth on accident. And the boys knew it.

"Hey Dal," Steve said, a smirk across his face. I knew what was happening.

"Mmmm," I mumbled while flicking open my lighter and closing it. I also enjoyed fidgeting while high.

"So uh, you still love Y/N?" He said and I looked at her through hooded eyes and she shook her head. "Don't ask him that, you guys are cruel."

"But he'll spill when he's high!" Two-Bit sing-songed. She shook her head and looked down and a tear slipped down her cheek. I remained silent, it was my only way of keeping quiet. But, I do love her.

She got up out of anger for my sake and stormed out of the house. I looked around panicked and followed after her. I followed her while she shivered from the 60° weather, she wasn't doing so great. I caught up to her and spun her around and she got so scared she froze.

"Hey- hey- I'm sorry," I said when I realized she got scared. She loosened up her tense body and fell down the brick wall we were standing in front of. I crouched down next to her and took my jacket off and put it on her.

"You know don't you?" She said, barely above a whisper. I nodded my head and I knew tears were forming but I looked away so she couldn't tell.

"How long has he been hurting you?" I asked and she only shook her head. I looked back at her and stared at her for an answer, "Ever since our two week mark."

"Baby- that was 3 months ago!" I yelled and she flinched. I put my hand over my mouth and rubbed it down and she started crying.

"Dal!-" She called out and I looked at where she was looking. Here he comes, with an angered expression.

"Who do you think you're calling baby, jackass?" He said as I stood up.

"The girl that needs me more, jackass." I mocked. He scoffed and looked at her and grabbed her arm and pulled her up towards him and threw my jacket into the street.

"Let's go." He said and tried pulling her but I spun him around.

"You let her go. Now." I said with a low voice, his anger turned fuming and I felt the satisfaction.

"Why should I?"

"Because I obviously care about her more than you are ever going to."

"If I didn't care about her I woulda sent her your way a long time ago, Winston."

"You call beating her for every step she makes and making her sick care? Get a move on, buddy." He looked at me shocked that she had said something. I grabbed her and pulled her to me and she sobbed into my chest while I continued to stare at him.

He huffed and ran off across the road and I ran to wrap my jacket around her again. She looked at me and smiled. "Even after I left you, you never let go?"

"I'm love bitten baby, don't you know?"
