A/N: pregnancy series

I was walking down the street, minding my own. I was feeling happiness, something I hadn't felt for months even with y/n. We were expecting a baby? I always thought I'd be scared of it but when she broke the news I knew I had to be the one who was excited, and truthfully I am.

"Dallas!" I heard a voice call out. I looked around and I noticed a police officer running up to me, usually I would've ran but- I was supposed to change, right?

I stopped in my tracks and he came up to me. "What have you been up to? We haven't seen you around the station lately." He said and I scoffed. "Y'all miss me or something?" I said with a little hint of snark in my tone and he chuckled.

"Sure glad we haven't seen you around, but be honest with me. A kid like you don't change over night, what happened?" He questioned and I shrugged my shoulders. "Oh Y'know," I said and he hinted for me to elaborate.

"Y'know, when you're gonna be a dad you have to shape up, right?" I said and he raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Wow! A dad! Congratulations, I guess," He said and I grinned. "Thanks Officer."

"I thought you hated kids?" He said and I shrugged. "I saw the look on my girl's face and I knew I had to be the one to step up." I said and he patted me on the back and congratulated me again. We said our goodbyes and I walked down the street and she ran up to me.

"Hey," I said and I gave her my jacket because she didn't have one and it was cold. "What did the fuzz want?" She asked me and I put my arm around her.

"He was wondering why I hadn't been in the cooler recently." I said and grinned and she nodded. "So they miss you, huh?" She said and I chuckled.

"I guess, I just told him we're expecting and he congratulated me and now here we are." She smiled and looked up at me. "Dally, I'm real glad you've decided that this won't ruin your life." She said and I only smiled.

"Something so small couldn't be all that scary, right?" I said and she giggled. "I bought some clothes, the Curtis's gave me some of their clothes from when they were babies, mama and dad always kept them up in the attic, just in case something like this happened." She said and I just kept smiling. She always called Ponyboy and Darry's parents mama and dad because of how good they were to her, unlike her real parents.

"Alright." I said and I brought her to the Dingo for food.

Never thought I'd ever be excited for a child that's gonna be my responsibility. But, knowing that it's with her? Makes me feel a little better.
