chapter 22

March 29th, 2041

LEXI'S P.O.V.

I woke up in the morning to Jaden trying to get out of my grip.

Last night I waited for him to fall asleep before I laid next to him and wrapped myself tightly around him so he wouldn't escape somewhere.

"Baby what's wrong?"
"Please don't call me baby. I need to go to toilet."

Huh? Please don't call me baby? What happened now?

I moved so he got up and brought his IV with him to toilet.

"Hey, uh, I was wondering if we could remove IV. I think he doesn't need that anymore."
"Did he have a crisis?"
"Yeah, but I managed to make him fall asleep."
"Okay. Nick brought you guys breakfast so I'll bring that with me now."
"Okay, thanks." I hung up as I got up to make the bed.

Once I made it I fixed pillows while Jaden walked out of toilet.

"Oh baby are you okay?" Well, I don't think doctor will be able to take off the IV.
"No. I feel like I have a fever."
"Could be it. Let's lay you back in the bed."
"Since when do you care?" He sassed back, making me a little shocked. He probably hasn't realized yet that it's me.

"Since the first day I met you."

I moved the covers on the bed so he would lay down underneath them.

Just then doctor came in after knocking on the doors.

"Good morning."
"Morning. Yeah, I don't know if we should actually get him off IV. He seems to have fever."
"Yeah, it's probably because of crisis. We'll leave it for today and then we'll see tomorrow. If he has episodes just call me or whoever, okay?"
"I will if I need to."
"Yeah, also, this is breakfast that Nick brought you."
"Thank you for bringing it up here."
"No problem."

Doctor left the room as it was only Jaden and I again.

God, I don't wanna eat here and not be able to give him food. I hate that. It just feels stupid. But he is on IV so he shouldn't eat or drink anything.

"Do you wanna go to shower or no?"
"No." He shortly answered as he turned on his side. God, does he really thinks I'm that bitch? He hasn't even looked at me yet.

I sat and ate a little of food before going to bathroom to brush my teeth.

I walked back in the room and laid behind him under the blanket, before snuggling closer and wrapping my arm around his body.

I grabbed his hand and interwined our fingers. I kissed his shoulder multiple times, but he didn't say anything.

"Jaden?"
"Huh?"
"I love you. And I missed you so much."
"I-"
"You don't have to say it back right now. Since you do think I'm someone that I'm not."
"What do you mean?"
"That someone who you think I am is dead. And you're not owned by her anymore. You're free. And I'm your wife. You know, Lexi. And in few days we are going back home to our kids and you will be able to see you family. Not just see them but talk to them. And you will not be living in basement anymore."
"God, I love good dreams." I heard him mumble to himself.

"You feel this?" I asked as I moved my finger against his.

"What?"
"That ring?"
"And what's up with it?"
"You proposed me with it. When we were in Spain. Also the one on my middle finger is your promise ring that you gave me on New Year's eve in Wyoming."
"Her drugs are finally doing me good again." He again mumbled to himself.

"Jae. It's not the drugs. It's all real. I'm actually real. Okay? And you're not on the drugs currently. That's why your body feels that way because you've been on them every day for last five years."
"How can I know this isn't just the dream or that I'm not high?"
"Just turn around and look at me."

And soon he did turn around and our faces were near each other.

"What the hell-"
"Yeah. I know. It's so crazy."

Tears formed in my eyes again as I saw his eyes widen in shock.

"No. This is a dream."
"It's not, believe me. You can do anything you want and you'll see this is not a dream nor you are high. This is as real as it can be."

He sat up on the bed and started touching me before he turned around and got up from the bed. He checked his wrists as he realized there are no handcuffs on them. He looked out of the window before he looked back at me.

As I was already sitting on the bed, I got up before we both quickly walked to each other.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as his went around my waist.

Both of us were quick to start crying, tears running down our faces.

He pulled me out of his embrace as he cupped my face and studied it as tears streamed down his face.

"My love." He whispered before he pulled me in his embrace again.

At least ten minutes passed as we stood in the middle of the room while sobbing.

As both of us started calming down a little we pulled away a bit, just enough for me to stand on my tippy toes as I smashed my lips on his.

"Goddammit." He whispered as we pulled away, our faces just inch from one another.

"I love you so much. So so much."
"I love you more. And I missed you so bad."

We kissed again before staring at each other's eyes as we cried.

My phone started buzzing, interrupting our moment so I walked away to check who is calling.

I put a finger on my mouth to tell him to keep quiet as I take the call.
