chapter 10

February 17th, 2041

3RD PERSON

"Okay, I think my nephew should know how to locate the email. He studies technology and that stuff. I'll dial him."
"Yes! Do it now!"

Excited, Lexi jumped from the chair and waited for Clark's nephew to answer the call.

"Hey uncle Clark, what's up?"

Male's voice filled the silent room as call was on the speaker.

"Hey George, I was calling because I needed your help."
"Oh, what is it?"
"I need to locate a email. Is that even possible?"
"I mean, there's a program that CSI and those people like that use. Why?"
"Well, would you be able to come to my office and make me that program? I really need it, lile ASAP."
"Yeah, I can try to."
"Thank you."
"Okay, I'm on my way, bye."

George hung up on the phone, and room fell silent again.

"What if we don't find him?"
"We will. Don't worry. We will find him. We have to."

Clark reassured Lexi, while grabbing her shoulders.

Very soon, but what felt hours to Lexi and Clark, George entered the office, without knocking.

"Hey."

Lexi and George shook hands and introduced themselves, before he sat on Clark's chair in front of his computer.

"So, what do gou guys need to locate?"

Clark made eye contact with Lexi and she nodded her head, allowing him to tell the truth. Only reason for that was that she didn't know if they'd need more help from him again.

"So, Lexi's husband, along with the leader of one of the biggest mafia's, Jaden. He died five years ago in a fire. Now, turns out the body that was supposed to be Jaden's actually isn't Jaden's but some other guy. And we found that out just today."
"I received an email some time ago that made me tell Clark to do the biopsy again. And we need to locate that email because I don't know who sent it."
"What the actual fuck? This is like some movie or shit?"

Few hours passed and program was still downloading.

Both Lexi and Clark were growing impatient to find where Jaden is.

"Momma, where are youu?"
"Heyy, I'm doing some important stuff. Why?"
She was now stood in front of office so she could talk to Mason.
"I was worried, you weren't calling for hours."
Lexi's face softened, now feeling bad for her behavior.
"I'm sorry. Did you guys eat dinner?"
"No, we wanted to wait for you."
Once again, her face softened.
Fuck, how didn't I call them? - she asked herself, feeling like she could cry.
"Don't wait for me, order something tonight, okay? I have some really important things to do and I don't know how long will it take me to get back home. I'm sorry that I didn't call earlier."
"Okay. Mikey went out and Ashley is over at the house."
"So it's just three of you?"
"Yeah, we thought we'd maybe invite Paeka over, she's home with Amelie and Nessa."
"Okay, that's nice. Order something, but tell Ryan to pick it up and bring it inside, okay?"
"Okay."
"When did Mikey leave?"
"Not too long ago, maybe half of hour."
"Okay, I'll call him later to check up on him."
"Okay then, be safe mommy."
"I will, I promise I will be home as soon as possible, okay?"
"Okay then."
"Okay, buh-bye, I love you guys."
"Love you too."

"So, where's mom?"
"She said she is doing some really important stuff and that we should order something to eat."
"When is she coming back?"
"She said she will come as soon as she is able to."
"Okay."

Both kids, including Michael who wasn't home, were worried abiut their mom. All of them were scared that something happened, because of the events when their dad "died". They now know that the whole life is able to change completely in just few hours.
So right now, Mason was calling Michael to inform him that mom is okay and that she is just doing some important stuff.

"Hey M, what's up? Did mom arrive?"
"No, but I called her. She is fine, she said she is just doing some important stuff and that she won't be home for few more hours."
"Oh, did she say what stuff?"
"No. But I didn't ask her though. I felt like I wouldn't get the answer to that."
"Oh, okay. Call me when she's back."
"Okay. Be safe."
"Okay, bye."

"Maybe she just has a new boyfriend? Or girlfriend?"
Ashley shrugged, making Josie and Mason snap their heads towards her.
"No, she's not. She's still not over dad."
"Don't say that Ash."
"I'm sorry, I'm just saying. And what, even if she does, it would be good for her. She shouldn't just stay in house like my mom does."

Now, Josie and Mason both thought about it and realized that Ashley might be right. Maybe their mom actually found a new someone for herself? That thought disgusted both of them, because they can't imagine someone replacing their dad. Not in a family placement, not in Lexi's heart.

Mason sunk down in comfy sofa, Lee jumping on after him and getting comfortable there too while Mason patted him.

"Finally!"
"Thanks Jesus!"

Lexi and Clark both sighed, and stood up to go over to the computer, but Lexi's phone interrupted once again.

"Sorry, I'll take this really quick."

She walked out of the office again, answering the phone call she got.

"Heyy Sab, what's up?"
"Heyy, nothing much. What about you?"
"Nothing really, just doing some stuff."
"Oh, okay. How are you these says? We haven't talked in a while, except for yesterday's events."
"Yeah. I've been on my crazy shit, you know. I'm fine, anxiety is eating me alive but I deal with it. How are you? Where are Coop and Dani?"
"I'm fine. Coop is in the office and Dani is with his girl, on appointment."
"Appointment?"
"Oh wait, didn't he call you?"
"Who?"
"Dani?"
"No."
"Alyssa is pregnant."
"Wait, really?! That's so amazing! I'm so happy for them!"
One more thing that lightened up Lexi's day. Alyssa was pregnant three years ago, but she lost the baby due to natural miscarriage. Then same thing happened almost a year after that. And since then they've been trying to have a baby, and Lexi knew how much they wanted it. So she was really happy to hear that she is pregnant again.
"Yeah, I know. Finally."
"When did they find out?"
"Week or so ago."
"That's so amazing! Oh my God, I'm so happy for them. They deserve it so much."
"I know. Now we're gonna take care of her and not let anything happen."
"Yeah. I'll call him later to yell at him for not informing me."

Both women chuckled and talked for few more minutes before Lexi said she has to go. She was dying to find out where Jaden is.
