chapter 26

March 31st, 2041

3RD PERSON

"Hey mom." Three of them said at the same time as Lexi answered the call.

She showed Jaden to be quiet as she turned them on speaker so he could hear them too.

"Hey kiddos. What's up?"
"Nothing much."
"Michael's a drama queen."
"They both want me to die." They all went off at the same time, making Lexi giggle.

Meanwhile Jaden covered his mouth as he tried not to make any sounds when he started crying.

"What happened?"
"W-"
"One voice at the time." She explained as they all started to talk at the same time again.

"Michael's a drama queen. He just wants to be the center of attention."
"Oh shut up. Mom, can hear you them? My feelings have been neglected here since you left. They always put on a act in front of you, but now they're showing their real faces." Lexi laughed as she shook her head.

"How are you feeling baby?"
"My head hurts so bad. Other than that I'm a little better."
"That's good. Did Addi give you advil or something?"
"Yeah. Paracetamol. That I almost didn't even get because Mason and Josie are against me today."
"Ooh, he's back on his shit."
"There he goes. He's always the victim." Mason and Josie rolled their eyes, making Michael flip them off.

"So, enough about our little prince charming. When is our surprise going to be over?"
"Yeah, when are you coming back mommy?"
"On Tuesday."
"Noo, that's two more days."
"I know. W- I can't wait to come and show you the surprise." Fuck, I almost said we.

"Mommy how do you think we will put up with two more days until we get to see our surprise?"
"You're kids of Jaden and Lexi Hossler. You can do and take anything."
"Yeah, now that you mentioned dad. How do you think we'll go on his anniversary if you're getting back that day?"
"Yeah."
"Well, you guys don't need to worry about it, okay? Everything will go the way it should, so don't worry."

"Now this is another level of weird sentences she said." Michael whispered, making Josie and Mason nod their heads.

Jaden on the other side of the call has wrapped his arms around Lexi's side as he placed his head on the back of her shoulder while he silently let few tears fall. Lexi placed one of her hands on his arm, since he was in a position where she couldn't hug him.

"Are you gonna tell us where are you at least?"
"Nope."
"Cali?"
"Okay, yeah, I'm in Cali."
"Okay, then, we're not missing any nice locations." Josie sighed as she dropped her shoulders.

She always loved to travel and she hated when Jaden would go on a business trip and couldn't bring her to see new destinations.

"Mom, are you alone there?"
"Well, kind of. Why?"
"What do you mean 'kind of'?"
"Well, I mean, there are some people that are kind of helping me, but I'm alone right now."
"You sure?"
"Yes." Lexi made a face as she tried to sound as good as she could while lying.

"Okay."
"Yo, mommy, auntie is calling us downstairs to eat, so we gotta go."
"Of course. I'll talk to you guys soon."
"Bye."
"Buh-bye."
"Bye mommy, love you."
"Love you too guys." Mason hung up on the phone as three of them got up to go downstairs.

"She's acting so sus."
"I know."
"Anyway, before I start over thinking, what kind of flowers are we going to bring dad this year?"
"Uh, I don't know."
"White roses again?"
"But we do them every year."
"Yeah, because they were his favorite."
"Yeah, you're right. White roses again."

"Come here baby." Lexi set down her phone and managed to move Jaden so she could hug him.

"It's okay baby. We just need to make it through this little more time and we're going to be all back together. I promise you." She reassured as she kissed his head and rubbed his back.

Now, if the situation was different, Jaden wouldn't be crying three to five times a day. But, he is feeling pain and happiness at the same time.

It hurts him to think how much of their lives he missed and how he wasn't there for some important occasions.

But at the same time, he is so happy that everything is gonna go back to normal in next 48 hours.

"I love you so much." He mumbled in crook of her neck as he cried.

"I love you pretty boy. I promise I do, and never will stop." Lexi was now crying with him. She just couldn't control her emotions.

She let herself fall down in the pillows, as Jaden now laid on her chest.

Jaden fell asleep, so Lexi slowly removed him off her body and walked in the bathroom.

She dried her hair and then texted Nick to bring them scissors and black hair dye tomorrow so they could do Jaden's little make over.
