chapter 31

April 10th, 2041

3RD PERSON

Past week went with everyone coming over to their house. Amy, Bryce, Addison, Eva, Jackson, Lexi's mom, Josie, Nick, Josh, Nessa, Blake, Amelie, Cooper, Sabrina, and everyone else who was close to Jaden.

It was very stressful. Kids, including Lexi and Jaden just wanted a little peace. They could barely even have it at night.

Even though Jaden was very happy to be with his mom, sister, niece, nephew and all other friends, he wanted to have a little time alone with his kids and wife. He didn't even get to catch up with kids that much because there was always someone around them.

"Look at this!" Josie said all pissed off as she stood in front of Lexi and showed her her phone.

Jaden was sitting on the other side of island, drinking coffee, while Lexi was putting some plates on their place.

"Who is she?"
"It's he or they. Those are pronouns. But that the fuck?!-"
"Little lady-"
"Sorry. Didn't mean to. But she already found me a replacement."
"How do you know? Maybe they are just a friend to her."
"Yeah, yeah, and this what friends do?"

Josie showed her mom a photo of Ashley having a person on her lap as they kissed. It really made Josie mad.

"What? Can I see?"

Josie moved her phone to show Jaden a photo as his eyes widened a little in shock as he leaned on island so he could see.

"Who are they?"
"This one, Ashley, is my ex. This one here is my replacement."
"O-oh. You had a girlfriend?" Josie's eyes had a look of pain when Jaden asked that.

He obviously didn't know she is a lesbian and Josie thought he wasn't supportive of it when he asked.

"Y-yeah. I'm le- I'm lesbian, dad."
"C'mere." He opened his arms for her and she walked up to him, hugging him.

"Why are you all sad now? I don't want my princess to be sad."
"I thought you wouldn't support me by the way you asked me that."
"Oh, Gosh, I'm so sorry if it came out that way. I was just a little in shock. I'm sorry it came out the wrong way."
"It's okay-"
"Jo, I need help!" Mason yelled from upstairs, making Josie pull away from her dad and kiss his cheek before running off.

"Fuck."
"What?"
"I- I was just shocked, I didn't mean to come off homophobic and not supportive."
"It's okay, she understands that. You can talk to her later."
Lexi placed a peck on Jaden's lips before continuing what she was doing.

"By the way, she uses she/they pronouns." Lexi said as she dried a cup and placed it on thr shelf.

"Huh?"
"Oh, you know about pronouns. It was a thing even when we were teenagers."
"Yeah, but I don't really understand what that means?"
"Well, she doesn't completely feel like a girl, let's say that way."
"Oh, okay. So I refer to her as they- I mean them as they-" Lexi chuckled as she looked at Jaden.

"You can still call her she. That's why it's she/they. But time to time at least call her they, because it makes her very happy when she hears that."
"So she prefers they?"
"Well, no, since it's she/they. If she preferred they, it would be they/she."
"Oh, okay. God, I really missed too much. I wasn't even there to make fun of her for her first kiss!"
"It's okay, I wasn't there either. She was hiding the relationship because she didn't came out to me or her brothers yet."
"Oh."
"So when I figured out she might like girls, she ran away. And we searched for her whole night. She ran away with that girlfriend. And when she came out, it made Mason say that he is basically bi curious."
"What's bi-curious now? I mean, I know what's bi, but like-"
"He isn't sure if he likes any more genders except girls."
"Oh."
"But he hasn't mentioned it since, so we don't know."
"I mean, it's good if he doesn't label himself yet. They're still young though."
"Yeah."
"But I support them. Just like I support you. So I'm sorry if I come off odd any time, really. I just get confused."
"Yeah, I know. They'll understand that too I'm sure."

Jaden watched Lexi do her stuff as he started processing everything.

"Please tell me they didn't say I love you to each other."
"I'm pretty sure they didn't."
"And-"
"They didn't have sex, don't worry."
"Good. That was my next question." Lexi chuckled as Michael and Mason walked in the kitchen.

"Where's Jo?" Jaden asked, wanting to go and talk to her alone.
"I'm pretty sure she's in the yard."
"Okay."

Jaden made his way to backyard, finding Josie on the swing.

He approached her and sat beside her.

"Hey."
"Hey."
"I'm sorry for my reaction. I was just in little shock. I'm genuinely happy for you and I support you." He said while looking down at her, taking her hand in his.

"Thank you. I know it was a surprise for you, so I understand."
"Your momma also told me you use she/they pronouns."
"Yeah, I do."
"Do you want me to rather call you she or they?"
"Well, you probably feel more comfortable with she, so you can just call me that." She said, playing with her fingers.

"No, I'm asking you, Jo. What do you want me to call you?"
"W-well not many people call me they."
"Okay, I will do from now."
"Thank you daddy. That really means a lot to me."
"But, I might just fuck up sometime. I need a little time to get used to it, so don't get mad, 'kay?"
"Okay, I won't." They hugged each other, with Jaden placing a kiss on top of Josie's head.

"You know what I thought?"
"What?" Josie asked, curious, thinking that he means on something about her sexuality.

"I thought we go to Spain. Or Italy. Or wherever you guys want. I thought that would help us have a little time alone because now everyone is over at our house all the time. I mean, don't get me wrong, but I want some peace with my kids and wife."
"Yeah, that would be cool. Grandma started going on my nerves a little because she's going far up momma's ass now. Trying fix that little colder friendship between them." Josie rolled her eyes as she snuggled her head into Jaden's shoulder.

"Yeah, your mom told me. That's exactly why we're gonna go on a surprise trip, so no one else knows, but us five, so no one else wants to go with us."
"Yeah, that's cool."
"But in two weeks, maybe three. Because, I love my mom and sister and I don't want to burn in hell one day." Josie chuckled as she pulled away from her dad and nodded her head.

"Okay."
"But don't tell any of them yet. Okay?"
"Your secret is safe with me."
"Good." Jaden smiled while nodding his head, making Josie smile when he placed a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"C'mon you two, lunch is ready!" Lexi yelled from big glass doors, earning Jaden's and Josie's attention.

"We're coming!"
"C'mon princess." They got up and walked inside of the house.
