chapter 21

March 28th, 2041

LEXI'S P.O.V.

"You can come and lay next to me. There's enough space."
"Okay." I smiled as I walked over to his bed and get in beside him.

Just as I tried to snuggle in the side of his arm, he tried pushing me away.

"Remember, I have a wife."
"Okay, and what would she think about you sleeping in the same bed with strange woman?"
"Yeah, you're right. I'm gonna go lay down on the couch."
"No, no, wait Jaden." I stopped him before he got up from the bed completely.

"Hm?"
"What if I tell you a secret?"
"What secret?"
"Come closer." I smiled as he leaned down and got closer to me.

"I am actually your wife." I whispered before pulling away.

"No you're not."
"Yes I am. Look."

I showed him my ring that I was still wearing on my finger the whole time.

"Wait, you are my wife. Ooh!"
"Yeah, so it's okay if we lay in same bed, cuddling. Your wife would actually love that."
"But you just said you are my wife." He made a weird face that made me giggle.

"Yeah, that's the point. Your wife, a.k.a. me, would love if you cuddled with me."

He just laid down on the bed and immediately fell asleep before I even had a chance to cuddle up to him, so I did it peacefully.

God, I can't believe I'm laying next to him again.

My phone started buzzing - which made me get up qucikly so it wouldn't wake him up.

It's Bryce.

"Hey Bry."
"Yo, where are you?"
"Somewhere. I already told you it's a secret."
"Dude, chill out. I just wanted to let you know that Michael is a little sick."
"Wait, what happened?"
"He has a little fever and headache. He also vomited."
"Fuck. I can't get back home right now. Can you please take care of him?"
"Of course. But where are you? Why didn't you wanna tell us where you are going?"
"It's something really important that I've been working on for really long. You'll know about it very soon. But I can't tell you right now."
"If you say so."
"Okay. Just take care of him. Jo knows where all the meds are. I'll be home in few days."
"Mason asks if you'll at least be back for Jaden's anniversary."
"I should be back by then. If not before but I'll be back for that day." If only they knew I'll do my best to get Jaden back right on his anniversary. Because I don't think it's possible to do it before that.
"Okay then, I'll update you. Actually, it's either Addi or Eva that will call you since I'm going to company right now."
"Okay. I'll talk to you later."
"Bye."

As he hung up I let out a big sigh. I set my phone down before leaning down on my elbow.

I caressed Jaden's hair and face as tears formed in my eyes. I can't believe he is back. And I can't even think of the things he has been through. Only the scene of her grinding her hips on him while he is asleep is enough to tell me everything. But I am very curious to find out what's that another thing he didn't feel comfortable telling me.

I listened to his light snores as wiped my tears away.

I kissed his forehead and nose before kissing his cheek and snuggling down in his chest.

God. I won't even know how to prepare everyone before I show them that I found him finally.

My phone started buzzing again as I was quick to pick it up.

"Hey Clark."
"Hey. Did you guys finish the mission?"
"Yes. You won't believe me but he's actually sleeping right next to me." I whispered as more tears fell down my eyes.

"What?! Finally! God, I'm so happy right now!"
"I know. I am too."
"So? How's his condition?"
"Well, he's fine like this. It's just that it will take few days to get him used to live without being on edibles every day so I could get him back home in front of kids and others."
"Yeah. So you will not put him in a facility to sober him up?"
"No. I'll work here with some people next few days and then I'll help him when we go home. I don't plan on living another month or so without him."
"That's true. Well, when everything settles and all that I'd like to come and see him."
"Yeah, of course."
"Also, update me if anything happens."
"Will do."
"Okay. Go and sleep, finally, with your husband."
"Will do." I chuckled as we soon ended the call.

I snuggled in his chest again as I left few kisses on his cheek and neck.

Goddammit. My baby is back. My heart is very much still pumping at abnormal pace.

Soon, I finally fell asleep.

I was woken up by Jaden trying to push me off of him.

I sat straight on the bed as he did too. He was sweating. His breathing was fast.

His body must be falling in crisis since it is middle of the night.

"Jae, lay down. Okay?"
"No, I don't know what's happening. This never happened before."
"I know. Your body is making a reaction since it needs drugs."
"Then give me it if it'll help me!"

He tried to get up but I qucikly straddled him and pinned him down so he wouldn't run away.

"You can make it without them. Trust me. I'm here."

He started trying to push me off as his body was sweating and his face was pale, but with dark shades under his eyes at the same time.

"It's okay. I'm here. I'm here. We'll make through this together."

I cupped his face and pressed my forehead against his as his hands were holding my wrists very tight.

"Listen. Listen to me. Breathe with me to ten, okay?"
"No, move away!"
"Jaden listen to me. We are counting together. Come on. Come on baby, I know you can do it with me. One," I said as I inhaled and then exhaled, "Two, c'mon baby."

He soon started focusing on me and my voice as we were breathing together.

"Good. Keep doing that. Okay?" I tried to move my head so I would reach my phone, but he grabbed my wrist tighter.

"Don't move."
"But I gotta reach my phone."
"Don't. You'll ruin my concentration."
"Okay then." I tried to reach my phone without looking away from his eyes.

I set my phone right under his chin as I looked away for a second to press Nick's number.

"Count to ten out loud so I can hear you." He inhaled before saying 'one' and then exhaling. He repeated it until he got to ten and then stopped.

"No, no, keep going. You're going great."

I didn't even end up calling Nick nor anyone else, but stayed in same position as we both breathed together.
