he's your coworker in this, but it gets really floofy.
Ben was definitely one of your best friends. You met him through your job at the book store. You were a college student trying to get through school. You were going for your masters in teaching so you could teach kindergarten. There was a local youth center that taught K-2 and you wanted to apply. Only issue was that you had a year left before you could. Needing the money, you applied at a book store.
You'd been there for about 6 months and had become rather fond of one of your coworkers. His name was Ben and he had quickly become one of your closests friends in that time. He was really sweet and was pretty goofy. You were on the closing shift and so was he.
You worked everyday except for Sundays as that was the only day the store wasn't open. Ben also worked everyday and that meant you two spent quite some time together through your shifts. It made the time go faster because you two would crack jokes and Ben would dramatically read the children's books to you.
"Hey bestie!" Ben greeted you as you walked in.
You smiled, "Hiya Ben!"
He smiled widely at you, "How was your midterm?"
"Hell on paper, but I think I passed." You replied, hanging your jacket up.
"I'm sure you did great. Wanna come help me put these books away?" He replied, motioning to the four boxes of books behind him.
You simply smiled and clocked in before grabbing one of the boxes. You started to put them away and organize the book shelf. The job was boring but it gave you a chance to really wind down after a long day of school. Ben had put on some 80's rock and roll so you could have some background noise.
It was like a mini therapy session. You just felt really calm and relaxed during your shifts. It made you feel happier. This also gave time for Ben to admire you from a distance. Over the past few months, you had really grown on him in more ways than just a friend. He had become smitten with you. Of course, he'd never tell you that.
When he first laid eyes on you, he thought you were beautiful. You had the perfect share of h/c locks and when he finally got the chance to look at your eyes, he thought they were the pretties e/c he'd ever seen. Then you smiled and he was instantly infactuated with you. He just wanted to know more about you.
Over the months of your shared shifts, he just grew more and more intrigued by you. He loved your laugh and he noticed you did a little happy dance whenever you got a good grade. He thought you were adorable and whenever you talked, he could listen to you for hours. You were also really smart and that also made him more smitten with you.
When you had found Extra Ordinary: My Life as Number Seven, you figured out pretty quickly that your Ben was the Ben from the book. Ben explained that it was a long time ago and he had long since forgiven his sibling, but it was all true. He was surprised that you didn't really care about his family or his powers, and it made him happy that you liked him for him.
