We didn't get enough interactions between the Hargreeves siblings and their nieces and nephew.
"Uncle Five, can you help me with my math homework?"
Five looked up from the newspaper he was reading, slightly surprised. Claire was standing in front of him holding a folder and a piece of paper, she looked defeated. Allison invited the family over for dinner and it was loud considering Grace was almost two and the twins were only a few months old. It would be hard for any 8 year old to concentrate on math homework.
Claire was a lot closer to Klaus, Luther, and Diego than she was Five. He had never been one to play dolls or run around outside. Instead, he preferred the act of just being there and stepping in when the kids ask him to. If they want him, they'll come to him, or he'll leave them be.
"Have a seat." Five said, putting his paper down. "Lets have a look." Claire sat down next to him and presented him with her homework. "I see you're working on multiplication and division."
"I just don't understand how to multiply the big numbers." She muttered, putting her chin in her hand.
"Well, lets work through them together, shall we?" He suggested.
Five took his time as he explained each question to Claire. She eventually got the hang of it and then moved on to her science homework. She asked him to help her with that as well. He just had a way of explaining things to her that she could understand. He was a really good teacher.
"Thanks uncle Five, you're awesome." She said, putting her homework away. "Can I sit with you?"
Five's heart melted a little bit. "I could use the company." He picked up the newspaper once more.
Claire lifted his arm and laid her head in his neck, getting comfortable. He wasn't used to the physical contact but welcomed it anyway. He had a soft spot for Claire and the other kids. Anytime Diego or Allison needed something, they had Claire ask since Grace couldn't talk in sentences yet, and he hardly told Claire no.
Klaus walked in carrying baby Coco, sitting down in the arm chair. He never wanted kids of his own but he liked being an uncle. He was the fun uncle that was strange and cooky. He liked playing with the kids and hanging out with Claire. He wasn't a babysitter but he volunteered to hold the babies so the parents could eat.
Coco was only 4 months old but she was a squirmer. Stanley, her twin brother, was currently being held by Luther in the kitchen. Everyone had just finished eating and they were working on cleaning up. Diego was helping Allison clean up while Viktor and Lila were working on dessert. Ben was sat quietly at the island taking in the scene.
"Why hello Gracie bug." Klaus greeted Grace as she toddled into the living room, sippy cup in one hand and a cell phone in the other.
Grace was a spitting image of Diego. Same face shape and wild look in her eyes. She even had his smile. She had Lila's nose and complextion, and curly hair. She certainly was a cutie.
"Hi!" Grace cheered, a toothy grin on her face. Her shirt was stained with spaghetti sauce.
"Miss Grace, did you take my phone?" A teasing voice called from the doorway.
"No!" Grace cheered, giggling at her uncle Viktor before running off.
"Hey you come back with that!" Viktor teased, chasing after her.
"We should find a movie. What do you think Coco babes?" Klaus suggested, gently bouncing the 4 month old. Coco ignored him and just grabbed his finger.
Diego had found himself leaning against the doorway of the living room. He observed Claire snuggled up to Five as the two read the newspaper, her asking him questions every now and then. He saw Klaus quietly bouncing Coco in his lap as he browsed the TV channels for a movie. Viktor was chasing Grace around the foyer, both laughing as he tried to get his phone back. He turned his head slightly to find Luther feeding Stanley a bottle, talking quietly with Ben as he did so.
