we walk down the block, to my car, and i almost brought him up

every single christmas and i wanna talk about that
and for the first time what's past is pastYou were new in town, just moving to Canada from (hometown). You decided to see what was out there so you moved far away. You needed a change and needed to just get away from everything. You were tired of the same old thing, you needed adventure. What better place to carry that out than Canada?
You went into the bar early one Thursday afternoon. Bar food sounded appeasing to you and so there you were, eating some fries and sipping your drink. The place wasn't rowdy or had weird people hitting on you. It was cozy and laidback, you felt safe. There was light alternative rock playing in the background. The atmosphere was mellow.
When your check came, you noticed it was paid for with a phone number attached. You looked behind the bar, the bartender winking at you. He was cute and seemed nice, you smiled at him. You went home that night and called him, striking up a long conversation and an invitation to dinner that Saturday night.
Viktor took you to a small mom and pop diner a few blocks from the bar. It was almost desserted so you two were pretty much by yourselves. You drank hot coco and shared childhood stories. Viktor had you in stitches with some of his jokes and you had him choking on his drink with yours. It was comfortable and felt natural.
He thought you were beautiful. He loved the way your face scrunched when you laughed and how your eyes lit up everytime you found a common interest. He thought your laugh was the best thing he'd ever heard and just wanted to keep making you laugh so he could hear it. Viktor also found you to be amusing and thought it was cute that you laughed at your own jokes.
The diner was closing, you two had been there for hours and lost track of time. Viktor helped you out of your seat and walked outside with you. The Canada weather was unpredictable, but it was a comfortable temperature outside. It was a tolerable cold feeling when you left the diner.
Since the two of you drove separate, he offered to walk you to your car. You ended up stricking up a conversation about the holidays since it had been snowing recently. Viktor wanted to mention how great of a time he had and how his past dates never went as well as this one, but he decided not to. He got lost in the sound of your voice as you spoke about the holidays with your family.
His childhood had been rocky, the holidays weren't too exciting. However, he loved how animated you were about the holiday season. Viktor was content just listening to you.
"Well, this is me." You announced, unlocking your car. "Thank you for tonight. I had a great time."
Viktor smiled at you. "It was my pleasure." He opened your door for you. "Get home safe."
"Will I be seeing you again?" You asked, getting in the car.
"Don't worry, you'll be seeing plenty of me." He promised, a grin covering his face.
Viktor fell in love with you the moment you introduced yourself over the phone. He was excited for this new beginning in his life.
