S4 is here. I have lots of thoughts.
Diego:
You stood in the kitchen as you watched your husband man the grill as your dog, d/n, ran around in the yard. Your husband was doing what he had always wanted, something normal. Diego never knew normal and now that he had it, he soaked in every second of it. You enjoyed the content side of him and he still had that spark of mischief he never lost. You were glad he could have this new life.
Diego invited everyone over for the 4th of July, it was hot, and he wanted to show off his new grill. You and him had been married for three years and just bought a house. He wanted to live out his fantasy of family barbeques and get togethers properly in a home you could call your own. You loved domestic life and loved that Diego finally had a dream of his come true.
"Babe! Can you bring me my apron?" Diego called from the deck.
"Which one?" You called back.
"The red one!" He called back.
You went over to the wall and grabbed his "mr good lookin is cookin" apron and walked outside. You handed it to him and he slipped it on. You tied the back and he turned around. You smoothed out the front and grinned at him.
"Very nice." You complimented, winking at him.
He grinned and pecked your lips. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go beat the meat."
"Honey that does not mean what you think it means."
Luther:
He was doing push ups on the ground, you were sat eating cereal. It was a Sunday morning, it was quiet. No yelling, nothing burning, nothing ending, just quiet. Just the two of you enjoying a Sunday morning watching whatever news was on. You enjoyed this side of Luther. He was calm and he wasn't all over the place like a rabid squirrel. For once he seemed to be unbothered and totally relaxed.
You and Luther had lived together for sometime before this new timeline, but now you were living in a normal way. He didn't have people after him and you weren't constantly worried for his safety. You were able to be yourselves and build something steady. It was something you always wanted and he desparately wanted.
"What're you thinking about?" Luther asked, wiping his face on a towel.
"Just us and how things are now." You replied, taking a bite of cereal.
"Hopefully it's happy thoughts." He replied, smiling at you.
His smile only became brighter the more content he became over the years. It was one of his best features and one you loved so dearly. You did anything to get him to smile like he is now. It reminded you that he was finally free.
"Promise." You smiled back, setting your bowl down.
Luther plopped down next to you and ruffled your hair. "How's about we test out the shower?"
"The last time we did that, you broke the faucet."
Five:
Steady breathing and no movement was all that lingered in the bed. It was 3 am, the room was completely dark other than the small bit of streetlight coming in through the blind. No blood, no final goodbyes, and no apocolypse. Five was safe, you were safe. He was right next to you, facing you as he held you to his chest like he always did when you two went to sleep.
It took a lot of convincing to get Five to slow down but you managed to do it. You convinced him to move in with you permanently and work like a normal person. Now you two had a cat, c/n, and a small, two bedroom apartment. It wasn't a luxurious lifestyle but it suited you both well. You two built a home and it was enough for you.
