Morning, his place
Burnt toast, Sunday
You keep his shirt
He keeps his word

It was a foreign feeling to you the first time you met Diego. He was charming and sweet, and drawn to you. You didn't understand it. You brushed it off for weeks because you assumed he did it with everyone. You had heard the hushed whispers from other people at your job everytime he came in. He always searched for you just to tell you hello and talk some kind of nonsense. Diego was definitely something else.

You had brought it up to a coworker once you realized Diego was making it a habit of coming to see you at work. They had said they'd never had him do that to them or notice him do it to anyone else. You found it to be odd and a bit creepy. It wasn't until you had the guts to confront him that you found out he wasn't trying to be that way at all. In fact, Diego had developed a small crush on you the moment he met you.

You didn't believe what your ears had heard. Someone like him had developed a crush on you. Sure you had relationships but you had always been the one to pursue, and you had never been the one pursued. Diego was making an effort to try and charm you because he thought you were attractive and he found you to be nice. You had always found him attractive and he was really sweet, but you never thought he felt the same way.

It took weeks of convincing from him to allow him to take you out. You hadn't been on a first date in a really long time and assumed someone as attractive and persistent as him just wanted sex. You figured Diego would just have his way with you and then never speak to you again like others had in the past. You expected it now.

"I had a great time tonight." Diego stated, opening your car door for you. "I really do hope I can see you again. Maybe tomorrow for ice cream?"

You smiled a bit. "I like ice cream."

"Good. Get home safe, okay? I'll call you."

Like he said, he called you about 20 minutes after you got home to make arrangements for the next day. You ended up talking for a whole hour with him on the phone about random stuff. Diego made you laugh like no one had before and feel more human than anyone had in a long time. What was starting with him felt real.

The next few months had flown by. You didn't notice how quick it had gone by until you were laying in your bed. It had been around 4 months into your relationship and you decided to trust Diego enough to have him spend the night. When you woke up, you thought he had left until you heard faint whistling coming from the kitchen.

You got up and slipped on his shirt and your pajama pants. You made your way to the kitchen and saw him making breakfast. It looked a little questionable to you but he seemed to be working hard. He was shirtless and in the pair of shorts he brought with him. His hair was still sticking up everywhere.

"What's on the menu?" You asked, leaning against the counter.

"Omlettes and overly cooked toast." Diego stated, glancing at you. He studied you for a second before grinning. "Are you wearing my shirt?"

You looked down and lightly blushed. "Do you want me-"

"-Absolutely not."

And for once, you let go
Of your fears and your ghosts
One step, not much
But it said enough

Diego never did get that shirt back. It became one of your favorite sleep wear items. You liked how he would take it from you, wear it, wash it, spray his cologne on it and give it back to you. He thought you looked adorable with your messy hair and a shirt that hung loosely off your shoulders. You looked so cuddly and so peaceful.
