New Girl

Our baby girl was a month old. I had been home doting on her while Henry worked. Of course I had constant visitors wanting to see her. She brought happiness and light into so many lives.

I had my arm around the carrier which held baby girl, the other arm a bag full of food. "Oh my" Trudy rushes over "she's is absolute heaven" Trudy dotes on her as I put the carrier on the desk. "She looks like a more adorable smaller version of Justin" I laugh "I have been telling him that Flynn looked like him as well" she shakes her head "is it the Voight or Anderson genetics that are so strong" she exclaims loudly "think it's the perfect combination my complexion and hair his eyes and smile" I shrug "anyways I think she wants to see her daddy" I lift the carrier off desk as she dashed around taking the bag of food off me. She leads me up the steps "we have a guest" Trudy announced "two actually" she corrects making me laugh adjusting the carrier in my arms. "Hope I'm not interrupting we were bored" I shrug "you never interrupt" Henry tells me making me smile as he walks over kissing me. I place the carrier on Adams desk as Trudy takes the food out talking some for herself. I take little girl out of the carrier cradling her in my arms. "You never told us her name" Adam nosily asks causing me to laugh. I had been waiting a while a month for someone to ask. I look over at Henry before glancing at Al who knew the name, he was the only one outside Justin and Flynn who knew. "Sophie Grace Voight" I tell them "Grace after my mother and Sophie after my sister and grandmother" I add rocking her before walking over to Henry allowing him to take her. He holds her allowing her to snuggle into him. He was completely wrapped up in her much like everyone else. Al walks over to me "how are you feeling" he asks wrapping his arms around me "tired but other than that amazing" he nods kissing my head "Lexi has been asking for a girls day" "tell her she can come over anytime but going out might take a little bit just for us to adjust" "I told her to give it a few months" I smile "she can come over though Connor, Justin and Flynn have been I would love girl time even if we just sit there" he nods "I'll tell her" "I would also love some conversations with someone other than Henry who isn't my child or like my child" I look hopefully at him "I might even stop by have to see my goddaughter" I laugh leaning into my seeing Henry walk over "Ruzek is not holding my daughter" he told me sternly handing me the baby. I was very confused "he is a giant man child he is not holding her until she's at least one" he added I hear Adam gasp behind me "you let everyone hold her" I laugh who would have though all these adults would be fighting over a baby. "Guys she got a life time with you she's only a month old" I shrug as she wiggles in my arms drawing attention. Al takes her and sits down at his desk. I love over after hugging Henry again to see her with his hat on, and someone's badges. I laugh "well isn't she the cutest detective" Erin said noticing it as well "who did she replace" "Ruzek she's far better" Henry immediately said waving everyone off Adam gasps "my badge is right here" Adam points to the badge on his hip. "Doesn't matter" Henry shrugs as I walk over taking a photo of the cutest detective "if she doesn't become a detective I think everyone will be so disappointed" I laugh out. Al takes his hat back putting her hat on her head. However she still has the badge on and it doesn't look like she is giving it back anytime soon.

Henry and I come out of his office after having a moment to ourselves, to just cuddle and talk. The first think we see is Adam holding Sophie in front of everyone using her little arms to point to things and direct people. I immediately laugh listening them ask Detective Voight what to do or translate what's on the board. Henry walks over taking detective Voight from Adam scowling. "Detective Voight needs a rest from you" he said passing me my baby "I'm sure detective Voight has helped a lot in solving crime" I say smiling at Henry making him shake his head.
