Special Dinner

I walk through the store, Sophie in the trolley. I had called Charles the moment I left the district. He was hesitant at first but eventually agreed. "Mummy can we have pasta and cheese" I smile this girl she like any pasta covered in cheese. "We are having pasta there will also be other food baby girl" "who coming" "Adam, Jay and Will have been invited I don't know if there coming" I say grabbing some pasta packets. "Tin" she yells "tin is coming same as Ellie, Flynn Lexi Al Kelly Ellie Erin Connor" she smiles gleefully "Con Con" she was excited. She loved our special dinners where everyone came. They didn't happen often but when they did they were special.

"Mummy I help" I lift her up helping her wash her hands before placing her on the counter. I give her the wooden spoon to stir the pasta sauce. "Do you think they like it" I look up from my spot chopping vegetables "I think they will love it" I'm making Pasta, salad, salmon, rice, roast vegetables. Sophie helping of course. "Do you need help" Ellie asked coming in "I don't need help but if you would like to then your more than welcome" she smiles "what do you want me to do" "you could finishing cutting the vegetables" she nods and I move over to the salmon and rice, leaving her to do the vegetables for the salad and roast.

I place the last of the food on the table "tin tin try pasta I make" "you sure you made it and not mum" Justin said which made her pout. Everyone was sitting around the table. I sat down next to Charles who I could tell was nervous, sending him a smile. He had met everyone while I was cooking, thankfully he knew Justin so that made it easier. He also knew Sophie who made everything better and everyone smile "Charlie you going to be my new friend" Sophie innocently asks "of course I can be" "good cause uncle Eddie is my favourite, Vin is my papa, Tin is my best brother, Rin is my best sister, Ellie is also my best sister I have lot just like Kelly Con Con Jay Will and Adam are my best brothers" everyone smiles "actually Jay and Adam are my best friends same as Will" every meal this girl somehow becomes the centre of attention. "What about aunt Cat" Charles asked I could tell he was fishing "who that" he looks over at me making me shrug. "You mean Mow Mow or Merty or Tiger" Charles looks confused "there cats I thought Mowgli was a boy" Adam said making me nod "he is" I tell them "where are these mysterious cats" Jay said looking around "myrtle is probably in Hank and Lillies room" Erin said "same as Mow Mow he likes it there" Sophie cuts her off "Tiger runs around upstairs and Frank is outside" Ellie adds smiling. "How many animals do you have" Charles asked bewildered "four" Sophie said holding up four fingers. I eat some pasta just listening "three cats one dog a snake and two spider" Flynn corrected "you have a snake and two spiders" Will exclaimed him and Jay were in shock "when did you get another spider" Kelly asked "big snake and giant spiders...they sometimes scary" Sophie said "I always had the snake. Got the snake when Justin was fourteen" I look over as Justin nods in confirmation "got the other spider a year ago" "have a dragon to" Sophie squeals smiling "bearded dragon and that's all the animals and reptiles for now" i say "better be" Henry said scowling making me smile innocently. He didn't like all the animals but it made me and Sophie happy so he deals with it. I had a snake growing up, while my brother had spider they were a sense of home that I urned for. My grandmother always had cats I always wanted on but never got the chance, we had dogs. We minded a friends bearded dragon, my brother had one so I knew how to take care of it. Sophie just fell in love with her dragon, so I had to get her her own. The bearded dragons cage is in the living room, it's a very new thing so no one but those who are always over knew. The snake and spiders live upstairs. We had like a second living room which were always used for the kids toys and things we refer to it as a playroom. It was big so we had plenty of space for three reptile cages and the cage climbing things while still having room for toys and an office if me or Henry want to be around Sophie and not in the actual office. Frank sleeps in Sophie's room, same as Tiger/duchess. Mowgli and Myrtle sleep in my room.

We were now all in the living room Sophie putting on a dance performance. She was exhausted clearly but she didn't want to sleep. She wanted to spend all her time with her family. I sigh walking over picking her up. " no Mumma" she shakes her heard wiggling in my arms. "Baby your tired" she shakes her head starting to cry "me stay" she clearly didn't want go to sleep with everyone still here. I rock her rubbing her back. Everyone was talking amongst themselves they weren't watching me like weirdos. She cries more making me sigh she's over tired. I pat her back sitting down "want to go to daddy" henry takes her laying her on his chest patting her just like I had done before. She cries into him, clutching his shirt tightly. I could tell many people were shocked with how soft he is with her, sure they seen him hold her but nothing like this. Sophie sighs sniffing putting her head on his chest, exhaustion finally catching up with her. She slowly calms listening to his heart.
