Another Son

Six month old Sophie Grace sat on my hip as I tidy the house. I forgot how much mess a young child makes. Now that she's kinda crawling, she wants to pull everything out. She was waving her purple llama around laughing. She's always laughing or babbling. "How are you doing" I skin around seeing Connor standing there "good how are you seeing as you fell off the face of the earth after she was born" he sighs rubbing his face "yeah sorry been busy at the hospital" I smile "I'm kidding Con I don't mind sure a message would be nice but I really don't mind" I wave him off. He walks over moving the llama handing her a light pink bunny. "Oh she is going to love that" I tell him "what to go to Connor" she smiles as I pass him to him. I continue to clean thankful she went to Connor. I felt relief, I was no long trying to hold my baby and clean. "Anything new kiddo" he shakes his head ticking her side making her laugh "what about you" "other than the ever growing princess no" I point out "I miss seeing you Justin and Adam run around" he smiles "I remember spending days on end with you and Justin then Adam joined the party" I laugh nodding they were my boys the three musketeers. "How's your dad" he shrugs "we don't talk" I nod knowing how strained their relationship was. If only he knew the truth. But it wasn't like it was mine to tell. I just feel back knowing how bad it will break him. "Just remember you always always have me" I kiss his cheek. He sits down on the couch placing Sophie in his lap. Sophie immediately leans on him wiggling her fingers through his hair. "What's going on kiddo" I ask gently knowing full well if his here something is bugging him. His always been like that. He goes to answer but before he can Adam loudly enters the house, startling Sophie Grace. Sophie let's put a scream before crying into Connors chest. She was fine for a minute before she started to wiggle "mmm" knowing that means she wants me I walk over them picking her up. She instantly snuggles into me "a baby Adam there is a baby you can't be so loud anymore" I say sternly Adam who is frowning clearly feelings bad. "I'm sorry" he said going to touch her but she moves away making the playful man child sad "don't feel bad she does it to everyone when she wants one person it's only them" I shrug cradling her close. "Now what's with the loud invasion" I ask looking at him as I start to rock side to side calming my sweet girl. "Just missed you" he shrugs sitting beside Connor "you loudly invade my home scaring my sweet baby girl because you miss me" I ask tilting my head. He takes a moment as if his thinking about how to answer "yes?" He said it like it was a question causing me to laugh. "Kiddo you can spend all the time in the world with me if that's what you want" I sit on the coffee table in front of the two. "That goes for both of you ok" I look at both of the as they nod. I look down at my tired daughter "want cuddles with Adam sweet girl" she doesn't move or say anything. I gently pass my clearly tired daughter to Adam, helping her hold him so she is comfortable and will fall asleep. I watch her snuggle into his chest sighing. Adam smiles watching placing his hand gently on her back. "Lap it up Henry doesn't like you holding her" I smile at his confused face "at least bit until she's older" "why" "your chaotic and loud truthful think his just being overprotective of our girl" he nods smiling at the now sleeping girl. "What's going on" I look at both of them. They were keeping something from me, they don't turn up unannounced. I'm also a Sargent I see the signs. "Henry sent you didn't he" they don't say anything "no henry would have sent Al unless Al us undercover" I begin trying to piece together "then he probably would have sent Trudy" I get up looking out my window seeing the street clear, no squad car, uc vehicles. The street is quiet like normal. What the hell are they hiding. Adam should be working "relax mumma Penny nothing is going on" "then why aren't you at work" I cross my arms over my chest "what's going on" I look at both of them "nothing" they shrug "fine I will let it go but just know I will figure it out" "oh I know" Adam said smirking looking at me Connor just laughs. "Where Justin isn't he here like everyday" "being a parent" I shrug I did miss seeing him everyday but he had to learn to be a dad to Flynn. "So Justin told us a secret" Connor begs causing me to sigh and sit beside them. "What secret would this be me and Henry have a lot" I shrug leaning back looking at them. "About Erin" I sigh "is she really a Voight" I nod "Yep" I say popping the p. "Keep it on the down low until Henry or Erin say" they nod "Justin said that" why didn't I figure he would go straight to them. They were his brothers. I look at Adam "no one but Al knows so don't bring it up" I run my face "I have had to live with this secret for years it's not our to say which is what I told Justin it's Henry's and now Erin if they want people to know they will tell them got it" "yeah um Erin knows I know" I sigh rubbing my face "how did she take that" "said she should have figured Justin would tell me said she was always jealous of how close we were" I nod "Erins struggling with it...don't think Henry noticed" "of course you did" Adam rolls his eyes beginning to rub Sophie's back as she moves in her sleep "does Jay know" Connor asks "I have no idea but I did tell him to watch her" they nod "she acts all fine but I can tell she's not...I'm not her mother I'm Justin's they both are struggling" "probably because Justin had a thing for her" Adam adds which his probably right "is that why Justin isn't here" Connor asks "I don't know...I know his having trouble with the fact Henry cheated on me" "I am to" Connor adds "but we know you two worked it out" He finishes sounding like he was trying to save himself and Adam who's nodding agreeing. "We did work it out had Justin renewed our vows" I rub my face. " did you sort it" Adam asks "I see the pain in your eyes" Connor asks "and you get so cagey when bunny is brought up" Adam adds "you and Voight also cling to each other like you need each other to breath" Adam finishes "Al started showing up right around that time right" Connor asks aiming the question at Adam who nods "I think so...is that why you two are so close" Adam asks now intrigued "Yep I went to stay with my sister Al...Henry sent Al to check on me that's how we became close" I shrug "Al was the one to convince me to come back. His the reason Henry and I reunited" I smile "I'll put her in bed" Adam said getting up walking upstairs with Sophie in his arms.
