Josie POV

"We're here" I park the car looking in the rearview at Lizzie

"Hope, are you ok" I ask trying not to make a big deal infront of Lizzie

"Yeah" She mumbles crossing her arms I know she does that when she's anxious and there's a pit in her stomach

I hold her hand because I know it makes her feel better, safer. I don't understand why its not like I'm stronger than her,but it makes her feel better and I would do anything to make her feel better.

"Lizzie can you give us a moment" I ask looking in the backseat.

"Yeah sure" Lizzie shrugs grabbing her coat.

"Hope I don't mean to pry but you only cross your arms when you are anxious. It's ok to feel anxious about this" I kiss her hand but she continues to gaze out the window.

"Hope" I almost whisper.

"Can you keep holding my hand" She hesitates she keeps looking away.

"Yes" I hold her hand securely

We sit in silence for a couple of moments. I wonder whats stewing in her head.

"Why does holding my hand make you feel safer, its not like I'm stronger" I ask and immediately regret.

She doesn't answer for a moment

"When I'm with you I feel safe because in malivore it was freezing, cold, and lonely. Esther messing with my mind felt the same way and you are stronger than me in so many ways. You protect those you care about with everything you have. You took a bullet for Lizzie and I when triad. You are so strong Josie of course I feel safer in your arms." She kisses my hand and looks over. Her eyes a deeper blue which usually tells me she's been crying.

In a dryer voice taking her hand off mine she adds "I feel bad you're my girlfriend and all you've done since we've been together is try to help me," She starts to cry "It's not fair to you at all, you think I'm strong when I break every five minutes."

I push up my arm rest so we can be closer. "I love you and taking care of you isn't a burden, and you are strong, being vunerable is strong"

She cries harder and climbs into my arms.

I cradle her in my arms and unzips my jacket so she can rest her head on my chest.

"It's okay" I stroke her hair softly "I have you"

Her crying slows "We should go inside after I clean up" she sniffles trying to pull herself together

"We can take as long as you need" I reasure

"Okay" She whispers burying her head in my collar bone then wipes her eyes and checks her reflection in the rearview mirror making sure in doesn't look like she had been crying.

She climbs out of the car and so do I and we start walking up to the house wondering how much chaos was brewing inside its walls.
