Chapter 32

Chaeyoung's pov

On my home way home, I felt really down. I didn't know why. Seeing Mina and Jihyo getting closer each day somehow bothers me.

I am the one who Mina always hangs out with. Why out all of a sudden she would hang out with Jihyo every time? I don't want to be selfish, but I just can't stand the thought of Mina being closer to another person. I'm scared that one day, I'd be replaced.

"Chaeyoung? Is everything okay?" My thoughts were cut down when my dad called me.

"Yeah, I am."

"Are you sure? You seemed to be in deep thoughts all the way to our home." That's when I realized we were already home.

"Just thinking of a concept for my project." I stepped out of the car and went straight to my room.

I changed into my pajamas and sat on my bed.

"Why can't I stop thinking about Mina and Jihyo?"

Ring ring ring~

Who is calling me? I grabbed my phone and answered the phone call.

"Hello?"

"Irene?"

"Yeah, it's me! I am wondering if you want to meet up tonight?"

"Where?"

"I don't know, probably in a cafe? I just want to spend some time with you." Again, she made me blush.

"O-okay." Why did I stutter?

"Great! I'll pick you up at 6 PM." She hung up, and I can't stop myself from blushing.

She just said she wants to spend time with me!

I just thought, why would I feel sad if Mina is getting closer to Jihyo if I am also getting close to another person? Maybe it isn't something to worry about. After all, it is our decision who we want to spend time with.

I changed into simple clothes and grabbed my things. I went down and my mom asked me where I am going.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to meet Irene."

"Oh, okay. Have fun!"

When I went out, Irene just arrived in time.

"Should we go now?" Irene asked.

"Sure, let's go."

We walked to the cafe she was talking about. The atmosphere was great, and there were only a few people.

I sat down while Irene ordered some food.

After a while, Irene came with food.

"Strawberry cake! How did you know I love this?" I asked her while smiling.

"I asked your dad what you like to eat." I nodded and started eating.

"You're so cute." She chuckled at me then started eating too. She just called me cute!

"How are you?" She asked me.

"I'm fine, just thinking about some things."

"What things?"

"About my best friend, Mina."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Her voice was soft. It seems like she is interested and ready to listen to my thoughts, so because of that, I felt comfortable talking about them. So I did.

"Lately, she kept hanging out with one of our best friends. You see, she is the closest to me, and the same goes for me to her. But it seems like I won't be the closest to her anymore..."

"Because she hangs out more with your other best friend than you?"

"Hmm, I know it is immature of me to get mad at it because they were also best friends, and best friends do hang out always. But, I just can't stop thinking about it."

"Does it bother you?"

"It does."

"You like her don't you?" I was shocked by what she just said

"What? How can I when I like yo- I mean how? Why?" That was so close. I almost confessed.

"From how you said it seems like you like her."

"But she's my best friend."

"Why? Is it wrong to like or love your best friend romantically?"

"Of course not, but I just can't imagine myself liking or loving my best friend. I mean why would I have feelings for her?"

"Because she makes you feel different. She makes you feel something that others couldn't."

"Like what?"

"She makes you feel safe, comfortable, happy, special, and most importantly, loved. She makes you feel that way even through the little things."

Mina did make me feel those things, but I still don't think I have feelings for her.

"Still, I don't think I have feelings for her."

"Well, if that's what you said."

We spent the rest of the time talking. We talked about a lot of things. I also told her some of the sufferings I went through, and she would give me comforting words. She would hold my hand and tell me that I did great.

She walked me home after we spent time together in the cafe.

"It was nice having a time with you. I'm always here for you. If you want someone to talk to, I'm here." She smiled at me.

"Thank you." I smiled and what she did next surprised me. She went closer to me and hugged me. I didn't hesitate to hug her back.

"I'll be going now." She broke from the hug and waved goodbye to me. I waved back with a big smile on my face.

Her comforting words and actions towards me, make me like her more.

"What happened that you ended up looking like a tomato?" My mom asked me as soon as I entered the house.

"H-huh? Nothing."

"Seems like my daughter is liking someone for the first time." My mom teased me.

"It's not like that. Stop teasing me!" I whined that made my mom laugh.

"Oh, honey, it's fine. Especially if it is Mina." My mom winked at me and went to the kitchen.

Why Mina again? Why do they keep saying I like Mina?
