Chapter 39

Third pov

Mina woke up in an unknown room. She rubbed her eyes and sat down.

She remembered that her mother brought her to her house.

Mina stood up and looked around the room. It seemed like the room is accustomed for her.

As she looked around, a picture caught her attention. It was a picture of her when she was little and her mom. She grabbed the picture and smiled.

"We looked so happy." Mina mumbled. She put down the picture and went downstairs. She found her mom preparing breakfast.

"Oh, you're up. Sit down and eat." Mina nodded and sat down. Her mom served her food, and they started eating.

"Are you going to school today?" Her mom asked.

"I don't feel like it." Mina replied.

"It's fine. I'll go tell your teacher that you won't go to school today."

"W-what? You?" Mina was shocked by what her mother just said. Her mother doesn't reveal herself at Mina's school. She never attended any school events because she didn't want people to know her as Mina's mom.

"Hmm, I'll just call her after breakfast."

"By the way, who owns the room I slept in yesterday? Do you have a niece living here or something?"

"Oh no no, it's your room."

"Mine?"

"Yes, it was always there. When I moved here, I made sure that you will have your room. You know, if ever you want to sleep here." Her mom said awkwardly.

"Oh..."

"Is the room fine for you?"

"Yeah, perfectly fine." Mina smiled at her mom and continued eating.

When they were done eating, Mina's mom told her to rest in her room and she will do the dishes.

Mina got to her room and looked for her phone. Her phone was on low battery so she charged it before opening it. When she opened her phone, it was full of missed calls and messages from her friends, mostly from Jihyo.

She didn't dare to face them, and she wasn't also in the mood to do so, so she just closed her phone and decided to take a rest.

In the living room...

"What's my schedule for today?" Mina's mom asked her secretary.

"You have a meeting with the J Company, an interview, and a guesting on a school." Her secretary replied.

"About the school, cancel it."

"Okay, ma'am, I'll just inform the principal."

"What is Mina doing?"

"I checked on her, and I think she is sleeping."

"Good, I'll just go and buy something. If she looked for me, tell her I'll be back." Mina's mom said and went out.

After an hour, Mina woke up. She went out of her room and went to her mother's bedroom.

"She's not here?" Mina looked around but found no one. She went to the pool to see if her mom was there, but she wasn't, so she went to the living room.

"Miss Mina, are you looking for your mom?" The secretary approached Mina, who was looking around in the living room.

"Oh, yeah, where is she?" Mina asked.

"She just went out to buy something. She'll be back soon." The secretary replied.

"Oh... okay, thanks. I'll just be in my room." Mina went to her room and thought of something to do.

She found a bookshelf at the corner of her room, so she picked a book and read it there.

While she was reading, her phone rang

'Jihyo'

Mina decided not to answer it and kept reading, but after a few minutes, her phone rang again. It kept ringing, so she just answered it.

"MINA!" Jihyo said on the other line.

"Do you want me to lose my hearing?"

"Gosh, you scared me to death. Where are you? Are you okay? Are you not cold? Are you staying somewhere safe? I'll go to you." Mina chuckled at Jihyo's questions.

"Hey, calm down. I'm fine now, don't worry."

"You just disappeared out of nowhere, and I couldn't contact you since yesterday. How am I not going to worry?"

"I know, I'm sorry, okay?"

"Are you really fine now?"

"I guess... a little."

"Want me to go to you?"

"No, it's fine. Just enjoy your days. Go do the things you like."

"How am I going to enjoy myself without you? Just let me know where you are."

"I can't. I'll just message you if I want to meet up."

"Fine, I'll get going. I'm still here at school. Don't skip your meals, or else I will beat you. I'm just one call away if you want to talk. Stay safe there."

"Pshhh, fine. Take care."

The call ended with Mina smiling. She felt so lucky to have a friend like Jihyo.

Jihyo was always there for her. She felt comfortable around her. That's why just like Chaeyoung, Jihyo also has a special place in Mina's heart.
