Chapter 49

Third pov

"Chaeyoung was missing."

"W-what? What are you saying?" Mina asked in a trembling voice.

"Chaeyoung was missing a few days ago. We couldn't visit her because of school, so her mom and dad were the ones with her in the hospital... but when her mom went out to get Chaeyoung's food, she suddenly disappeared. That's why we have been looking for her for days now." Momo said.

"W-where is she? She's fine, right? Nothing happens right?" Mina asked.

"The thing is..." Jeongyeon nervously replied.

"What?"

"Chaeyoung..."

"Just tell me!! Where is she right now, and is she fine?!" Mina stood up and burst out.

"She's in another hospital." Jeongyeon replied with her eyes closed, not wanting to see the broken Mina in front of her.

Mina started to lose her balance. Momo and Nayeon went to hold her.

"How long has this been going?" Mina asked with regrets, pain, and sadness in her eyes.

The 3 girls became silent. They didn't know how to respond. They kept it from Mina for a long time and they were afraid that this will affect their friendship.

"Why are you all quiet? Is there something I still don't know?" They still didn't respond.

"Chaeyoung was hospitalized, Chaeyoung was missing, what more are you hiding from me?! How many more are there that will hurt me?! Tell me!!" Mina pushed Nayeon and Momo.

"How can we tell you when you don't even talk to us?!" Nayeon asked Mina.

"You won't answer our calls, messages, and won't even show up. Now tell me, how can we tell you when you pushed us away?!" Nayeon went closer to Mina

"Nayeon, calm down please-" Jeongyeon was interrupted when Nayeon spoke again.

"Calm down? How can I calm down when she just lashed out like this when it was her fault in the first place. It was your fault that you didn't know what happened to Chaeyoung. We tried to tell you many times, but you won't answer us!"

"Stop playing the victim here, Mina. You are not just the only one suffering. You are not the only one affected by your love for Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung was also affected. She was so affected that she even wants to take her own life!" Nayeon stepped out of the room and went outside to calm herself down. Mina was left there standing.

"Mina... I'm sorry for that. Nayeon was just really worried for Chaeyoung. I'll go talk to her, and we'll go to see Chaeyoung. Don't worry, our friends were already there." Jeongyeon gave her a smile and pat at her shoulder.

"I'm sorry we hid it from you." Momo went to Mina and hugged her.

Mina, along with her 3 friends went to the hospital Chaeyoung was in. They quickly went to Chaeyoung's room.

They found Chaeyoung's parents and their friends talking to a guy in front of Chaeyoung's room.

"What's going on?" Nayeon asked as soon as they arrived at where the others were.

The girls and Chaeyoung's parents were shocked to see Mina with Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and Momo, but they just reserved the questions later and focused on Chaeyoung.

"He is the person who accidentally hit Chaeyoung." Sana said.

"What? I mean what happened?" Momo asked.

"Well, I was driving to work when the accident happened. The cars were at a stop, and then when we had to go, she suddenly took steps forward that resulted in me hitting her. I think she did it on purpose. Fortunately, I didn't drive fast, so the impact on her wasn't that bad. I brought her to the nearest hospital. When I was waiting to know what's her condition, I called the police about what happened to let her family know where she was and how was she. I didn't know her name, so the police went there to check, and it turned out that she was the one they were looking for days now." The man who accidentally hit Chaeyoung explained.

The others sighed in relief that Chaeyoung wasn't in a bad state.

"A doctor went to check up on her a while ago. You can probably ask her about the patient's condition. I'll get going now. Thank you."

"Thank you, sir." Her parents bowed at the man.

Just then, a doctor approached them.

"Hello, are you the patient's family?"

"I'm her mom." Chaeyoung's mother replied.

"The patient is stable, so you don't have to worry about anything. Fortunately, the impact wasn't that bad, so she was fine. She just has some wounds from the fall. We checked on her, and she is fine now, but I suggest letting her rest for now. You can visit her now."

"Thank you." Chaeyoung's mom bowed at the doctor.

"Aunty, uncle, you can go visit Chaeyoung first since you still have to go to work. We will be going after you." Tzuyu said. Chaeyoung's parents nodded at her and went inside.

The 7 girls were left outside. They sat on the chair and waited for their turn to see Chaeyoung. They were seated together except for Mina. Mina was just standing while looking down. She didn't know what to say to her friends after not showing up to them. The same goes for the others.

"She is still asleep. We'll go now. Please, look after my daughter."

"We will uncle, don't worry." Nayeon smiled at Chaeyoung's dad.

Chaeyoung's parents went on their way and glanced at Mina, who avoided their eyes. Chaeyoung's mom sighed and went to take the elevator.

"Should we all visit her at the same time?" Dahyun asked.

"Let's do that." Momo replied.

"Mina, aren't you going?" Jeongyeon turned and asked Mina.

"Uhm, you can go first. I-I'll just visit her after you guys." Her friends nodded at her and went inside.

Mina sat down and released a sigh.

"Why do I have to see you like this after months?" Mina cried as she buried her face in her hands.

Nayeon opened the door slightly to check on Mina. She peeked and saw Mina crying. She regretted everything she said to Mina a while ago. She then remembered Jihyo's favor.

"When Mina goes there, please... hold her for me."

"I'll go and accompany Mina outside." Nayeon informed her friends before going out.

She went outside and sat beside Mina. Mina felt someone sit beside her, so she removed her hands from her face and looked up to see who the person is.

"Nayeon?"

"Why are you crying?"

"It's my fault. If I just didn't confess to her, she wouldn't be in this situation, and we would still be best friends."

"It's not your fault. Don't blame yourself because it's no one's fault. You love her, and there's nothing wrong with that. You have the right to confess your feelings, and I understand because it is hard to carry it yourself, especially since it is one-sided. Chaeyoung tried to take her own life and it is also not her fault. It is the guilt and sadness that leads Chaeyoung to take her own life, not Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung wouldn't that." Nayeon held Mina's hand and smiled at her. She took Mina in her arms and hold her just like what Jihyo wanted her to do.

Mina let herself cry in Nayeon's arms.

"Don't worry, Chaeyoung will be fine. She will... because you're here already."
