Chapter 48

Third pov

Chaeyoung was laying on the hospital bed. She was admitted because she hadn't eaten anything for days. Her mom found her laying unconsciously on the floor in her bedroom. She was pale and looked really skinny.

Days after Mina left, Chaeyoung couldn't do anything but blame herself. She blames herself that Mina stayed away from her and became broken. She blames herself that Jihyo was in pain.

The guilt killed her.

It killed the old Chaeyoung.

She didn't go to school. She isolated herself. She starved herself. She hurt herself. She pushed away the people she loves and...

She threw happiness away and welcomed sadness.

All of it was because of one reason she believed in.

It was all her fault.

Every night she will cry and continuosly blame herself. When her friends will come to cheer her up, she will push them away. Same goes with her parents.

It pained her friends and family seeing the once bubbly, loving, and caring Chaeyoung vanished.

Chaeyoung was looking outside the window of her room in the hospital.

"It looks peaceful up there..."

"Hey, baby, I'll just go get your lunch okay? Stay here." Her mom went to her and kissed her forehead trying to comfort her as much as she could.

Chaeyoung didn't react but just kept staring outside. Her mom sighed and went outside slowly.

"It was all my fault. You were suffering for a long time because of me. You were aching because of me. I ruined your life. It was all because of me. The one who should be making you happy made you sad. I'm sorry, Mina." She brought her hand to her chest where it aches the most and cried.

"Don't worry, I also let myself suffer as much as you did... but I think it is enough now. I should end it." Chaeyoung grabbed a pen and paper, and wrote something.

She stood up with all of the strength she had left and grabbed her bag. Inside it, was a penguin stuff toy.

It is one of Mina's stuff toy that she took in Mina's house.

She hugged it and put the paper at the side of it. She put it back in her bag and closed it.

She took her coat and wore it over her hospital clothes. She went out of her room and carefully made her way out of the hospital.

She kept wandering around. She was walking even if she didn't have anywhere to go. She just let her feet decide where they would take her.

After some walking, she stopped at the side of a road.

"I'm sorry, Mina. I failed as your best friend. I'm sorry that I couldn't keep my promise to make you happy. I'm sorry for hurting you... I remembered you told me that it was hard to let me go. I won't make it hard for you anymore... I'll do it myself. I'll disappear from your life now. I'm sorry..." She wiped her tears and waited for the traffic light to indicate the cars to go.

As soon as the traffic light went green, the cars started going... and so was she.

She took steps forward quickly that results her to get hit by a car.

She fell down and everything became blurry until it went completely black.

"I'm sorry..."
