True Lies

I sat in my bed as I ate a bowl of cereal, while Caroline was rifling through the contents of a cardboard box, and Elena came in, "Megan's memorial outside is growing by the minute." Elena says and I chuckled, "Ugh, college kids are so dramatic. She was on campus for, like, one day. She couldn't have made that many friends." I told her before chewing the food in my mouth. "Aaliyah, she's dead. You can stop competing with her."

"Sorry, I'm in a mood." I tell her, and she turned to Caroline, "You talked to Tyler?" She asked, "He's deferring from enrolling and deferring from returning my phone calls, so I'm deferring from having sex with him ever again." Caroline snapped. "How's the snooping going? Any explanation why our vervain-laced," looks back to check for eavesdroppers, "vampire-slaughtered roommate had a picture of my dad on her phone?" Elena asks, "No."

Elena suddenly remembers something, and hands a folder to Caroline. "Oh, um, I went by the hospital this morning — Megan's death certificate. It says she died of suicide. No mention of the gaping vampire-bites on her neck. So, whoever signed off on the cause of death was part of the cover-up, just like the Founders Council back home." I got up as I finished my cereal and walked over looking over Caroline's shoulder, "Dr. Wesley Maxfield."

"A.K.A., our Applied Microbiology professor. I switched our classes around, so that we could—" Elena says, "Applied — what, what? Uh, Elena, we are supposed to be taking Intro to Communication. What happened to getting drunk and making bad decisions about boys? What happened to our fun freshman year at college? I am supposed to be a drama major!" Caroline exclaimed, "You're not going to be an Anything major if we get exposed as vampires!"

Elena stops, realizing her voice had been rising. Both she and Caroline take a deep breath, and Elena smiles. "We are still gonna have our fun year, Caroline, but we have to protect ourselves. The way Damon kept his secret in Mystic Falls was because he infiltrated the Founders Council. So, bust out those alleged acting skills, and let's get on it, okay?" Elena smiles at her, and finally Caroline relaxes and smiles back. "So just to get this straight, you changed your guys' schedule, not mine?" I asked and Caroline turned to Elena who smiled softly. "Yeah." and Caroline glared playfully at me making me chuckle.

The girls went to class, I went to mine

I walked across campus, as I held my phone to my ear. "Wait, so Silas has the entire town looking for Katherine? Why?" I asked, "No clue. Just be safe." Jeremy tells me, "Course I will." I say smiling, and we hung up. I walked down the way till I found Elena with Stefan. "Stefan?" I asked and he turned to me. "Aaliyah." he speaks and I felt a small pressure in my head. I froze as my phone buzzed and I grabbed it seeing Damon calling me. "Dont answer that, and put it down." Stefan says, and I instantly knew it wasn't him. I slid it into my pocket, and sighed.

"You look so much like Celia, its creepy. I guess us shadow selfs can only be so much of our selves." Stefan says and I asked, "Silas?" Silas smirked at me. My phone buzzed again and I answered it, "Damon, Silas is here. He's on campus, we're on the main strip." I said and Silas slapped my phone away from me. "Why can't I get in your head?" He asked and tried to grab my temples, but he pulled away hissing as he laughed. "Celia Rae." He snarked and I backed up.

He turned to Elena and said, "Go." she then turned and walked away. He looked down at his phone and chuckled, before pointing to me, "We will finish this later." and I blinked as he was gone. I sighed placing a hand on my chest breathing heavily

I ran towards the dorm, as I met Caroline half way telling her what happened. We went towards the dorm openign the door seeing Damon tied to his chair and Elena impaled to hers. "I think we need to set some ground rules for when boyfriends come to visit." I tell them chuckling.

The next morning, Elena loads a suitcase into the trunk of Damon's car. Caroline helps her. "I'll be back, roomie. I don't know when, but I will be back." Elena says, "Just call me the minute you hear from Bonnie, okay? I've left her, like, a hundred messages." Caroline says, "I will, I promise.: They hug, and Elena pulled me into a group hug. "You're gonna find him, Elena." I tell her, "Yeah, I know." We said our goodbyes, and left her. Caroline slung an arm over me, "My first order is switching my schedule back." She says making me laugh.
