Chapter 1

My alarm went off and I turned, turning it off, I laid in my bed sighing. I got up out of bed and went to my closet grabbing the clothes I set out before going to the bathroom. I took a shower I changed quickly and blow dried my hair, as I did my make up, before brushing my teeth. I exited my room before going to my brother's room. I knocked on Tyler's door and no one answered, that's when I realized the shower going. I smirked and opened his door going in I laid on his giant comfy bed making myself comfy. My phone buzzed and I looked to see a message from Elena,

'You're coming today right?'

I quickly typed back,

'Course, see you soon Lena'

I herd the shower turn off and I tucked my phone back in my pocket. Tyler came in with only a towel on and I whistled making him jump. "Ali, what have I told you about sneaking in while I 'm in the shower?" I just giggled and said "Get dressed before were late" He grabbed his clothes and went back to the bathroom while I grabbed his old sketchbook. I flipped through it and smiled at the drawings. All of a sudden the sketchbook was taken from me and Tyler smirked at me, "Come on Ali" he said and I followed him downstairs where Carol stopped us. "Morning Mom" I said smiling, "Morning Aliyah" she told me then turned to Tyler. "Be careful" he nodded and kissed her cheek before pulling me along with him. We get to school and Tyler and I share a look. "Are you sure you're ready? I don't mind skipping " I smiled and put a hand on his.

"I appreciate it Ty, but I think I'm ready" I said and he leaned over kissing my head, "Alright let's go, I'm gonna go find Vicki " with that Tyler left me to walk into the school by myself. I stood at my locker as I grabbed my books and Jeremy came up annoyed, "What's wrong Jer?" I asked as I was putting stuff in my locker. "Elena is acting like my mother" he said and I sighed, "What do you have on you?" I asked him.

"Just half a joint and a couple pills" he said and I sighed, "Just be careful Jer please" I said and he sighed this time "Here if it makes you feel better" he said and turned me towards him and handed me is pill bottle, "Thank you" I said and he nodded. "I love you Ali your so much more reasonable to talk too" he said and I smiled "I love you too Jer"

The warning bell rang and Jer went to get his books while I closed my locker and went to History, I messed with my pen as the teacher went on and on " Once our home state of Virginia joined confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state. People in Virginia's northwest region Had different ideals than those from the traditional deep south. Then Virginia divided in 1863 with the northwest region joining the union."

As school ended Matt and Tyler dragged me to the Grill I sat on Tyler's side as we faced Matt, I sipped on my water as Vicki came over with Matt's refill, " Thanks, Vick." Matt said and Vicki turned to Tyler and I. " Do you guys need another refill?" I shook my head but Tyler said " I'd love one. " After Vicki left Matt turned to Tyler and I and asked " Please tell me you're not hooking up with my sister."

" I'm not hooking up with your sister." Tyler said and I rolled my eyes, "You're such a dick." Matt said and I sighed as I ate some of my fries. "You feelin okay Liyah?" Matt asked me and I looked up and smiled "Yeah, fine why?"

"You just look upset" Matt said and I took a sip of my water and said "I'm fine Matty seriously" Soon the conversation ended as Tyler said "I wanna go play some pool" and left us, "Finally" I sighed out and Matt laughed Bonnie soon came over to us and the conversation was switched from Tyler and Vicki to Elena "How's Elena doing?" Matt asked and I sighed and said "I need a drink" I left them and walked up to the bar and smiled at Vicki, She looked around and filled my glass with Burbon Whiskey, "Thank you!" I said and downed it in one go. Vicki gave me another shot as Elena walked in with some guy.

I went to take it when I herd "Aliyah!" she called and I jumped coughing. "What?" I asked turning to her to see her shaking her head at me. I jumped up from the chair and went over to Matt, Bonnie, and Caroline. Matt was the first to speak to the guy who followed Elena over "Hey, I'm Matt, nice to meet you." the guy nodded, " Hi. Stefan." Elena and Matt had an awkward interaction as I spoke up, "Hey Stefan, I'm Aliyah."

We all sat around a big table as Caroline asks "So, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Stefan nodded, "Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young." Bonnie then asked, "Parents?" Stefan just answered, "My parents passed away." Elena spoke up and asked "I'm sorry. Any siblings?" Stefan says "None that I talk to. I live with my uncle." I just muttered "Lucky" resulting a swift kick to my leg, making my groan.

People see The Lockwoods and expect this perfect family. We are anything but. Course im a cheerleader and Tyler is a football player, but that's only because we want out of the house when school is over.

"So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow." I said smirking and Bonnie agree'd, "It's a back to school thing at the falls." Stefan turned to Elena and asked "Are you going?" I nodded speaking for her "Of course she is." After Stefan and Elena left Bonnie turned to me, "I thought you're supposed to be banned from parties" I shrugged. "If my brother can go why cant I?" I asked smirking.

The next day came and we were all in History. While Tanner was being extra douchey today. "The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?"

Turning to Bonnie she just says "Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot." Tanner just replies "Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Ms Lockwood? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded cheerleader stereotype?" I giggled and said "It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." biting my lip making the class laugh. "Hmm. Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?" Tanner asked, and Elena just blanked. "I'm sorry, I--I don't know."

"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." I rolled my eyes, but didn't say anything as Stefan called out "There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians." Tanner was shocked but called out "That's correct. Mister...?" Stefan just says "Salvatore." Tanner nodded, "Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?" Stefan replies with "Distant." Tanner nodded, "Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle." Stefan gave him a look and said "Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner." Tanner just gave him a look as he hmmed.

Later that night

I snuck out my window and went to the back to school party in the woods. Except instead of being that party girl my parents tried to get me to stop being. I sat on the bridge drinking by myself. "Aliyah?" I heard and turned seeing Elena and Stefan. "Oh hey Lena" I said sniffling, as she asked "Are you okay?" I nodded.  "Yeah I'm fine I-I-I-uh.." I stopped myself taking a breathe. "I gotta get back. Find Tyler" I said and she watched me leave.

Going back to the party I finally found my brother and called out "Can you take me home?" Tyler nodded giving me a concerned look "Yeah let's go."  We went to leave the party when Elena called out "Somebody help!" Turning I saw Jeremy carrying Vicki. "Vicki? Vicki, what the hell?!" Matt called out rushing to them. "What happened to her?" I called out, and went to walk up but Tyler grabbed me holding me there. "Somebody, call an ambulance!" Matt called out. "Everybody back up, give her some space!" Jeremy called out, as Elena said "It's her neck. Something bit her. She's losing a lot of blood." My eyes widened for a second before I snapped back to reality. "We really need to go" I told Tyler and he nodded rushing me out of there.
