"Hey Cheyenne. Jaylen isn't her yet." His mom said opening the door.
"I know. I wanted to play with Josie and talk with you since I haven't seen you in so long." I said pulling Josie out of her arms.
"That is actually perfect timing. I just got called into work and was looking for a babysitter. She's sleepy so she should be asleep any time soon. And I'll give you $75." She said pulling her wallet out of her purse. I watched as her medium sized build moved from place to place rushing. Her dyed blonde hair whipping around in a ponytail withe her floral scrubs on.
"It's okay. I don't need money. I love watching Josie."
"Are you sure?" She stopped with a pleading look on her face.
"Yes, Angie. Now stop playing mommy and go play nurse. I'll be fine." I said reassuringly taking a seat on the couch.
"I'm going to be in only for a few hours. I should be back by four at the latest. Thank you again. Bye."
"Bye." I sang as the door slammed and shortly after a car door slam.
Josie was asleep in 30 minutes leaving me a hour and half staying here by myself. I went to Jaylen's room and it kind of was messy. Me being bored of course, I cleaned it. So cliche of me to be watching a child and cleaning but it didn't bother me.
Without any father figure or man in the house, that pressure was usually on him. His mom never tried intentionally tried to put that weight on him but things happen. She hated it more than anything but Jaylen did anything he could for his mom and sister. They were his number one and I never cared that I was his number two.
It was a quarter til 2 and I was finally done. Josie hasn't woke up at all and was sleeping peacefully. Her room was right across from his so I was keeping a close eye on her. My phone started ringing and I had to rush to answer it before the loud ringing would stir her sleeping.
"Where are you?" Julie asked. (AKA Chummy)
"At Jaylen's house, why?" I responded, walking into the living room.
"Just seeing what you were doing. Matt left not to long ago to watch film for football practice and he won't be back til 4."
"Same here but he gets out at 2:30 but I do have some news."
"TELL ME!" She shouted eagerly.
I told her the whole story and to say the least, she was shocked. Anyone who knew the history would be. My friends knew how much I despised him and this is something that they know I wouldn't take well. But I did. And Julie knows more than anyone, that took a lot in me.
" So what happens now?" She asked.
" I truthfully don't know. I mean we're okay but I just don't see us being friends again."
" So do you plan on telling Jaylen ?" She skeptically asked.
I completely forgot about telling him. Jaylen isn't that much of a jealous type amongst everyday boys that gawk at me in public because he knew they wouldn't have a chance with me but when it comes to boys that I've had a history with, that's a totally different story.
I was laying on the couch watching ESPN when he came in. Baseball season was in full swing and the story the anchors were speaking on was pretty interesting.
I heard keys jingling at the door and I made no effort to move. The comfort level that I felt here was like my second home. I couldn't care less about who was entering even though I knew it was Jaylen.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, as soon as his eyes seen me.
" I was bored so I came here to play with Josie but your mom got called in for work. And Josie is sleep so don't just drop you're bag full of bats, bells, and windchimes you might have with you please." My eyes still trained to the television.
