Levi had never been so determined to get home before. Anxiety aside, he couldn't wait to see Grayson again, and just.... be with him. He practically raced up the stairs, with the lift being out of order still, and almost barged into the flat, before hesitating. He was expecting it to be quiet, maybe the sound of Lucas music playing softly at the very most. But instead, he could hear talking... and football?
He dropped his bag and strode into the living room, the sight shocked him. Lucas and Grayson were sitting on the couch, with what looked like a Liverpool match playing on the tv. Lucas was up shouting wildly, as he watched, whereas Grayson sat quietly, knees drawn up to his chest as he watched the game.
"Hi." Levi greeted, walking towards Grayson, and sitting right next to him. The older lent into the younger's arms, immediately soothed by his boyfriends warmth.
"Hey babe. Grayson was just showing me one of his favourite football matches. What was it called again?" Lucas explained, smirking at his flatmate, proud of the fact he got the broken boy to open up.
"Corner taken quickly. You know..."
Levi couldn't stop the soft smile as he looked down at Grayson, who was in turn peeking up at him almost. "Yeah, Liverpool v Barcelona but at Anfield right?"
Grayson only nodded.
"Amazing game to be fair. I couldn't believe what I was watching."
"It's so exciting Levi, why did you never tell me this?!" Lucas exclaimed dramatically, his eyes shifting back to the tv screen just as Wijnaldum scored the third. Choosing not to comment, Levi just rolled his eyes and kissed the top of Grayson's head.
"You need to pay attention now." Grayson mumbled, his own eyes shifting back to the screen. Lucas quietened down, sending Levi a small sly smile before turning his attention back to the tv.
"....Liverpool three nil- CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY, ORIGIIII!!" The commentator shouted from the tv, causing Lucas to jump slightly before he realised what was happening, and joined in with the shouting. Grayson kept his eyes on the telly, his small smile getting bigger as he watched the players celebrate. Levi's heart warmed at the sight, happy to see the smile he loved so much after such a long time.
"Oh my fucking god! How did he come up with that!?!" Lucas asked, breathless from shouting and shock.
"It was really clever. It won them the title I think. They went on to win the Champions League after that game. Best night of my life." Reminisced Grayson, as the crowd began to sing You'll Never Walk Alone.
"Well its got me all fired up now. I need to have a browse on Grindr, I need to let out all of this excitement."
The oldest boy grinned as he walked out, leaving the other two sat on the couch as the YouTube video comes to an end. "Were you there? At Anfield I mean."
"Yeah. We hadn't gone to the first leg, and I had to beg my mum to let us go. We got the train up that day, and were going to come back the day after for school. She wouldn't say yes until my grandad, her dad, demanded I came. He said that it was going to be one of the best matches of the season and that I needed to be there if I was going to be a world class footballer."
The blue eyed boy smiled faintly, his mind clearly reliving the events rather than being present. "He was right, of course. After the match we went back to my grandparents house and my nan was sat on the couch waiting for us to come in, all giddy. She doesn't even like football but she knew what it meant to my grandad. What it meant to all of us."
"I can't wait to watch you play on nights like that." Levi grinned, squeezing Grayson's hand. He snorted, his smile fading.
"I'm too messed up to make it to that level. I have too many issues."
"You've been scouted Grayson. By Liverpool! So they're clearly interested. Yes, you've faced more challenges that the average player but that just makes you stronger. More determined. And more talented. So don't put yourself down like that. You're fucking amazing."
Grayson looked up at his younger boyfriend, and smiled sadly, before looking down at the piece of thread on the sleeve of his hoodie that he was playing with. "I, um, I actually wanted to talk to you about something."
"We didn't finish the conversation we were having in the shower on Saturday. And I meant what I said. You made a mistake going to primrose hill on Friday. And I made a mistake coming here last night. My life is so fucking messy Levi. When I met you I never intended on it going this far... I never intended on falling for you." He whispered the last part, looking away from the blonde boy, unable to look at the sad frown that was pulling at his lips.
"I can't destroy all the good memories we have by staying around you. I can't shout at you and hurt you. I can't end up making you hate me, just like Rosie does. I didn't love Rosie like I love you. I think it'll kill me when you end up hating me. And not even that, say I did make it pro, what if I have get to move to Liverpool? Or Bournemouth, or Glasgow? What if I get put on loan somewhere in Europe or America, or fucking China, I don't know. Would we do long distance. What about your life? What about travelling the world? What if-"
"Okay I'm banning the word what for the next 24 hours." Levi interested as Grayson became clearly more panicked. Grayson shook his head and opened his mouth, still not meeting Levi's gaze.
"Look at me." Levi commanded, softly grabbing at the elder's chin.
"I could never hate you. Never. I promise." The younger looked his boyfriend dead in the eye, trying to convey how much love he had for him. And how serious he was. Grayson only swallowed and nodded in response.
"I think we should try a new thing. Just for us. Levi and Grayson; Minute by Minute. We stop worrying about the what ifs. We stop worrying about the future, and all the possible things that might happen. We stop worrying about next week or tomorrow or even tonight. And we just worry about whats going to happen in the next minute."
"Sound good?" Levi asked, his thumbing rubbing Grayson's cheeky softly. The elder took a moment and leant back down on Levi's chest, nodding against it. The two were silent for a moment, and Levi began to run his fingers through Grayson's hair.
"What are we going do in the next minute then?" Asked Grayson softly, causing Levi's lips to twitch upwards. He used the hand that was in Grayson's hair to gently tilt it up towards him.
"Well, I would really like a kiss." The younger smirked. Graysons snorted lightly, but leant up anyways to kiss his blonde boyfriend. It wasn't a searing, messy kiss, or a cheeky peck like they usually do. It was a soft, deep kiss, in which both boys tried to convey all that they felt for each other. The love. Both were reluctant to pull away, enjoying each other's lips, but Levi had began to run out of oxygen, and pulled away to take a quick breath before he pecked the elder one more. Twice more. A third for good luck. Grayson sent Levi the most reassuring smile he could muster, but he felt exhausted. And Levi knew that.
"What about the next minute?" Grayson asked once more.
"Well, Im booked up for the next 30 minutes at least. My bed is calling me." Humoured Levi in an attempt to make Grayson feel a bit better about spending some more time in bed.
"Want to join? You can be the big spoon this time."
Instead on answering, Grayson got up off of Levis chest, pulling him up off the couch. He led the way to Levi's bedroom; the place that was his sanctuary it seems.
