(Phil's POV)
It's been only six days since Dan went to the mental hospital and those days have been spent with me sulking around and not trying in my classes.
I am currently in maths and just got a test back. I got a 38%. I sighed and rested my head on my heads.
"Philip, can you come here?" My teacher asked. I reluctantly stood up and dragged my feet over towards her desk.
"You are one of my highest grade average students but you're not showing it. Why are you slacking? Do you not understand the material?"
"I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me."
"Okay. Well, I'll tell you what. I found a student-tutor for you. Jack, come here."
My face paled as Jack, the boy who picked on me in my first week stood up and walked over to her desk with a smirk.
"Hi Jack. Would you be willing to tutor Phil here after school?"
"No way! I've got much better things to do."
"Too bad. You're tutoring him." The teacher said sternly.
Jack huffed and rolled his eyes. I just gulped and ignored his eyes.
"Fine." Jack said and went back to his seat as did I.
As soon as the bell rang, I gathered up my books and started to quickly stride out of the room.
"Phil!" I heard someone shout and turned back to see Jack calling me over.
I walked over to him and he asked, annoyed, "Your house or mine?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Yours then it is. Meet me after school outside east corridor entrance, kay?"
"See you then." I mumbled.
"Whatever." He then walked past me and butted my shoulder. I sighed as I turned around and headed to science class.
I'm dreading today.
I walked into the room ignoring all the curious looks my classmates gave me. Like what are you looking at? I'm late ︎Just return to your work my god.
"Daniel, what's the meaning of you being late?"
" 'M sorry." I murmured and I heard a few students snickering including Jack. When the teacher turned around to continue to teach, I flicked them off and slumped into my seat.
I blocked out my teacher's voice and doddled scribbles in my notebook. I felt someone shaking me and looked over to see Emma.
I looked around and saw all my classmates eyes on me. I gulped and looked to the board where my teacher stood with her hands on her hips and disapproving eyes looked at me over her small glasses.
"So what's the answer, Daniel?" She asked. I started getting really nervous I almost broke into a sweat.
"Uh...w-what's the question again?" I stuttered an everyone in the classroom giggled except for Emma who just looked sympathetically at me.
"(Insert complicated science question here)?"
"That would be x to the eleventh power. And that would be calculated in pascals."
The teacher nodded and I could see the students looking at me, surprised that the weird, quiet kid was actually smart.

Lunch was really awkward and boring without Dan there. But something I saw that surprised me was that Hayley acted normal and social able while I acted broken in sad. But Hayley is Dan's girlfriend and I'm just his best friend.

At the end of the day when the bell rang, I swung my backpack over my shoulder and made my way to easy corridor slowly since I wasn't looking forward to my tutoring session with Jack.
When I opened the double doors, I saw Jack standing under a tree making out with no other than Brittany.
I grimaced and made throw up noises and Brittany broke apart. Looking at me with flushed cheeks and smirked but walked the other way.
"Hey." I said as I reached Jack.
"Don't talk to me." He said as he nonchalantly picked at his grubby dirty nails like the cool guy he is.
Note the sarcasm.
I walked ahead of him slightly in the direction of my house. I heard the padding of his feet behind me but he didn't say a word.
When we got to my house I walked up the patio steps.
I turned towards Jack and said awkwardly, "Um...would you mind just turning around for a minute."
"Why?"
"So I can take the key from the hiding spot."
He turned around and I quickly dug my fingers into the molch and grabbed the key from the dirt and blew the first off.
"You can turn back around now." I put the key in the door and opened it. My mom wasn't home nor was my dad so the house was very quiet.
Jack stepped in behind me and took in the surroundings of my home.
"Nice place." He stated.
"Err...thanks." I stuttered.
I went into the kitchen and grabbed a Mountain Dew and threw one to Jack.
We walked into my living room and I sat down on our leather coach and Jack sat next to me.
I opened my Mountain Dew and took a sip.
"Oh my god!" Jack shouted staring up at my head.
I started smacking my head and screamed, "What!!"
He started cracking up so hard that Mountain Dew sprayed out of his nose and on to me and that made me start laughing until I was spitting my soda all over the carpet and crying.
Once we finally settled down, I layed back on the coach with a smile still softly giggling.
"We should start tutoring." I said.
"Let's just get this over with." He grumbled.
I took out my maths homework and we started to work on it. Surprisingly, Jack was being really patient and he was a really good teacher.
Once he went over what we learned, I understood the material and knew what I was doing.
It only took about 30 minutes, for us to finish the homework and do some practice questions.
"Thanks for helping."
"Yeah whatever. See you later, loser." He laughed and left quickly.
And he's back to acting like, well, Jack.
Phil-Dani texting thread
Phil: Omg Dani guess what?
Dani: what?
Phil: Jack just came over to tutor me
Dani: ew
Phil: He was actually not being that mean
Dani: No way
Phil: Yes way
Dani: no offense phil but he hates you
Phil: whale den. ur rood.
Dani: well* then* you're* rude*
Phil: ... :|
Dani: sorry I'm kind of a grammar police officer
Phil: no but seriously he kind of sort of seems like a cool guy
Dani: ha ha yea..
Phil: what??
Dani: Nothing
Phil: why are you acting like you know something I don't?
Dani: no reason got to go bye bye
Even though Jack acted like a douchebag sometimes, I knew deep down he wasn't such a bad guy. And I actually had a lot of fun hanging out with Jack I almost forgot about Dan.
Almost.
