I went downstairs and grabbed a huge red blanket and a basket. I made two turkey and cheese sandwiches, some chips, Gatorade, and cookies.

I walked down to the beach and saw Dani's soft locks blowing in the wind. She was wearing a hoodie and leggings. As I got closer, she turned around and hugged me.

I laid the blanket out on the sand and we sat down.

"I didn't know this was a picnic." Dani smiled and I shrugged.

I opened the lid and grabbed the sandwiches. They were covered in plastic wrap so I peeled it off and took a bite into it.

Dani bit into the sandwich and gave me a thumbs up which I smiled at. I took out the red Gatorade and handed her the light blue since I knew it was her favorite.

"Thanks. You da bomb." She said, mouthful.

"You know it."

"Phil, you seem a little off today. Is everything okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine, Dan.." She cocked her eyebrow and my face heated up, "-i. Dani." I nervously chuckled. She patted my knee.

"It's okay to be sad, you know. I'm not going to think less of you that you may never see your best friend, brother, other half again.

I winced at the harsh truth to her words.

"Not helping am I?"

"Let's just talk about something else, can we. How about you and Hayley?" I winked and nudged her playfully.

A dreamy look appeared on her face and her cheeks tinted pink, "What about her?"

"That you are practically obsessed with her. Head over heels might you say."

"Ew, high heels."

"It's an expression."

Dani ignored my comment and started talking again, "Hayley would never like me. She's straight."

"Everyone that's straight is a little bit gay. There can always be exceptions. Maybe she's not a lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, but she still could be Dani-sexual."

"Ha-ha." Dani said sarcastically.

"I'm serious! Look it up."

"Because everything on the Internet is completely accurate."

"I knew it!" I rejoiced and Dani face-palmed.

"It's an expression." She mocked and I laughed out loud.

Dani makes me feel so comfortable and I just really enjoy spending time with her.

Dani pulled the family size of salt and vinegar chips out of the basket and ripped the top open. I grabbed a chip and ate it and Dani did the same.
