Song= Feel something, Jaymes Young

Harry

I prayed to God that no one was home, as I discreetly opened the door. I stepped through the doorway and carefully placed my foot on the grey rug. The floor creaked beneath me, and an instant cold tickled down my spine as I realized my mistake.

"Diddykins, is that you?" Aunt Petunia's familiar voice resounded through the house. I took a breath and decided to just get it over with.

"Guess again," I said as I walked into the kitchen, hurrying towards the stairs. She was making a cake with thick layers of icing, and fruit placed systematically on the top.

"Oh it's you," she said, not even sparing me a glance. I ignored her and paced up the stairs to my room.

I immediately spotted the tiny package on my bed. I ripped it open and as expected my last study books were revealed. I wondered how Aunt Petunia hadn't even questioned it. Usually, she would make a big deal out of everything that seemed to belong to me.

I decided not to worry about it, feeling the familiar aching pulling my insides to get of this house.

I grabbed a bag and threw whatever clothes were within reach. Not that there was much, really.

Then my eyes caught something in the corner of my room.

Hedwig.

The beautiful snow owl sat in her usual little cage and looked at me with miserable eyes. Couldn't leave her here. God knows what would happen to her as soon as I let her out of my sight.

Hedwig had shown up a couple of years ago on the doorstep. My Uncle had tried to make her go away for weeks, but the bird just kept trying to get in.

At one point, my Uncle even sealed the windows and doors, but she kept appearing. I heard my uncle and aunt talk about bringing it to a place where he would make sure it would never come back, but I had convinced him to let me keep her. I don't know how but I did it.

He agreed on it as long as it wasn't going to cause any trouble, but I heard him swear under his thick mustache that he was gonna get her one day. Since then, Hedwig has been my only company. My only friend. And that's why I couldn't leave her here.

She didn't even make a sound as I picked the heavy cage up, leaving my room, my things tugged in a bag on my back.

But just as I'd thought I might've had a chance to sneak out silently, the sound of a car caught filled the driveway.

Soon after, a door opened and my Uncle stepped in. My Aunt went to greet him, and I tried to see if I could go by unnoticed.

"And where exactly do you think you're going?" My uncle said, his rat eyes searching my luggage. I met his narrow, yellow rat eyes.

"I'm gonna stay at my friend Ron's place for a while."

Uncle Vernon's eyes raised and Aunt Petunia's face tightened. "And why is that?"

Shit.

"The school just thinks it's important that I settle well and get some friends." I sank a lump in my throat, my palms sweating as I rubbed them together.

My Uncle looked at me suspiciously. I wasn't sure that he bought it, but then he gave me an approving nod and I tried to hide my relieved sigh.

"It's better when you're not around anyways. Now we don't have to look at that weird face every day and all the nasty fingerprints you leave around here."

I knew it was an insult, but right now it was a relief. Petunia didn't say a word as she strolled into the kitchen again.

I reached for the door handle, and Vernon's steady fingers bored into my arm and forced me to look at him.

"Don't you go say anything to your new little friend, that could get us into a complicated situation, right?"

I nodded, his rat eyes searching my face before he let go of my arm.

Blood started to rush through my arm again, and I hurried through the doorway before anything else could happen.

The cold breeze hit me in the face, as I waited for the bus. The street was empty, and the wind made the trees sway.

Hedwig screeched in the cage beneath me, and I stroked her feathers to calm her down.

"It's okay," I muttered to her.

Ron had taught me the way to the Burrow and I found myself going over the steps in my head. A couple of houses further down the street, I saw a white car with a familiar brand on it.

Shit.

It was one of the familiar cars that had parked in front of our house a million times. A lady stepped out of the car and I knew she'd seen me.

This was seriously not happening now. When would they get it?

We don't know who killed my parents, and no we didn't do it ourselves!

It was as easy as that.

Because they hadn't. I just knew. At least it wouldn't be logical if they had.

My Uncle and Aunt hadn't received any money or heirlooms after my Parents' death. I think my Aunt was actually pretty relieved by that. I don't think there's anything else my Aunt hated more than things related to her sister. I'd learned not to question it.

A shiver went through me. I watched as the yellow vehicle drove closer to me on the road, Hedwig letting out a screech beside me.

The bus driver gave me a suspicious look when he saw Hedwig, but let me enter anyway.

The trip to Ron's house was quiet and peaceful. Unfamiliar.

You could spot Ron's house far away. The tall, dilapidated building towered up in the street, an old blue car parked in front of the yard.

The bus door opened, and I hurried out, the bus driver still sending a glare at Hedwig as we left.

I was almost there. I knocked on the door, and the woman I saw waving at Ron this morning opened the door. Her hair looked wild and messy, but I wasn't sure she really cared. She wore the same clothes as this morning, the same lovable look gleaming in her eyes.

"Well, hello. You must be Harry. Can you believe it? Ron told me about you, but never did he tell me you were a handsome little fella," She chuckled. I smiled. "Ron has told me everything, and I must say we are all really looking forward to your stay here. And don't worry, we don't mind at all. Percy just moved out, and his room has been empty for a while now. "

She stepped aside, making space in the doorway.

"Thank you," I managed to say, giving her my best smile.

"Well, come in, then. Ron is upstairs. You can just leave your things here and I'll take care of everything," she said, glancing at my things. "Is that all?"

I looked at Mrs. Weasley's warm face, seeing the concern flash in her eyes. I nodded.

"Well, alright. And who is this lovely creature?" She chuckled, looking at the cage.

"Hedwig," I answered.

"Well, she's beautiful," Mrs. Weasley beamed. I smiled at her and let go of the cage as she took it from me.

I took one last step before entering the Burrow. Before I entered a new home.
