Waiting. It's a funny thing, isn't it? The way you're meant to put a hold of yourself, expecting something to happen while not knowing if it ever even will.

In this instance, the waiting was simply just someone. Someone very blonde, and someone very late.

I'd been waiting for at least half an hour, and there hadn't been a single sign of Malfoy. After last time, he hadn't exactly seemed present.

I had asked him a question and he had not answered. It was as simple as that.

"What do you want Draco?"

The words were engraved into my mind. The perplexing answer he had given me pushed to the back of my mind.

I know I shouldn't have burst out like that, but I didn't regret it. It needed to be done. It needed to be over.

I stared at my paper as I made the pen brush over it one last time, placing the final period. The ending.

Cedric's face began to appear in my mind and I felt all my memories of Malfoy fading deeper into my mind, a helpful reprieve, if only for a short while. He was not forgotten, just hidden.

As I gathered my things to leave, one of my papers fell out of my hands and down to the wooden floor.

I got down to pick it up when I noticed something underneath the sofa.

It was that little, annoying pen Malfoy couldn't keep his hands off. It seemed so lifeless lying there on the ground. Not harmful at all.

My thoughts were interrupted although, as a tall, blonde shadow suddenly obscured my view.

I don't even have to look up to know who it was.

Without saying a word, he made his way up the stairs to the little balcony. Casually sitting down beside me, as if I were nothing but a stranger to him.

"Hey," he said.

My paper was still on the ground, and I quickly picked it up before turning my gaze to Malfoy.

"Hey," I answered.

I knew the conversation had ended and the uncomfortable silence was starting to grow around us.

"I'm sorry about last time," I said, not really sure if I meant it.

"You don't have to-" He said. His voice was low but gentle.

"No, no I shouldn't have freaked out on you like tha-"

"Seriously, it's fine, Harry"

Harry.

"Well, I better get going then..."

I bit my lip and turned away from him, hoping that he would let me go. Needing him to let me go.

He didn't.

"You're already leaving?"

"Well, I'm done with my assignment so that leaves no work for me to do."

"Yeah well, I'm not done yet."

I stopped, halting my motion down the stairs.

"So?"

"We are assigned a partner for a reason, dumbass."

I turned my head away again.

"I need you."

The words hit me like a slap in the face. I turned around forcing myself to look at him.

"I've seen your grades, you're a top student, you don't need help."
