Song=Broken- Isak Danielson

Harry

Time seemed to have stopped working around me. I've seen people carry on with their lives, with no worry filling their heads. I've listened to laughter, voices, and conversations, all drowned out in the distance of my thoughts. Loneliness grew heavier. The longing grew stronger. I watched as night turned to sunset multiple times before I finally saw Draco again. But boy how I wished I hadn't.

Sounds exploded around me as the bell went off, sending me quickly out of the door. I paced down the hallways towards the Great Hall as a firm hand was placed on my shoulder.

"Any luck finding a date?" Hermione asked politely beside me.

"Nope." The sad truth left my mouth easily.

"What about Draco?"

I laughed. "Yeah, that would actually require that he talked to me."

"Why don't you just talk to him?"

I was about to answer when I stopped.

"I- don't know."

"What's happening between the two of you?" She asked, raising her eyebrow at me.

I shook my head. I wished could answer her, but no words seemed to escape my lips."Honestly, I'm still trying to figure it out."

"You know, you can always just go with me and Ron, right? We don't mind at all."

"Thank you," I nodded at her. She smiled in response.

Suddenly she stopped. "Hey, can you wait here just a minute? I just quickly need to go to the bathroom," Hermione asked.

"Yeah, sure. I'll just wait here," I sighed, my hand's dropping to the pockets of my robe. I watched as she disappeared into the girls' bathroom, the brown, wooden door closing gently behind her.

I looked down the empty hallway, noticing how all forms of life seemed to have disappeared. A group of girls rounded the corner and walked past me towards the great hall. A couple of seconds later, more students passed, also walking in the same direction. I watched as more people passed me, all going to the same place. I was just about to ask someone what was going on when Hermione returned.

Her face was twitching into a concerned grimace as she looked at me.

"Do you know why everyone seems to be going to the same place-?"

She looked at the ground.

"Hermione?"

She looked at me, and then back down.

"I heard something in the bathroom, Harry-"

"What?"

"Daphne. Pansy's best friend."

"What did she say?" I still couldn't seem to figure out her expression, and I felt how curiosity started to boil within me.

"She was telling some of her other friends, how Pansy was glad she and Draco were back to normal."

"What do you mean with normal?"

"I-"

"Come on now guys, you are gonna miss all the fun," Justin Finch-Fletchley said behind us. We looked at the broad guy pacing past us in the hallway before he disappeared behind the corner.

We followed him into The Great Hall and were met by a huge crowd of students, gathering in the center. I pushed past them to get a better view, but I already knew who I would find at the center long before I saw him.

Standing tall and straight with his blonde hair falling down at both sides, Draco appeared in the middle of the crowd followed by the eyes of the whole school. I noticed a blue flower in his hand. A blue pansy to be precise.

My heart was thundering in my chest, and as if he'd just been waiting for my arrival, Draco took a step forward towards the crowd. He took a long glance around him, and for a quick moment, he saw me, looked at me, and then proceeded with his 'show'.

People were muttering silently to each other, all waiting for something to happen. And then, he suddenly started talking: "Where is she?" he asked, but it felt like a demand.

Everyone was staring at him, all too intrigued to answer. He searched the crowd until he finally stopped at something. Someone. Everyone turned their heads.

Draco's eyes were locked on a girl dressed in a green tie, with short black hair falling gracely beneath her ears. Pansy. They were all looking at Pansy Parkinson.

She didn't even look surprised. She just plastered a big smile on her face and grinned at Draco. She returned his steady gaze, as she started walking toward him.

I suddenly understood why so many people were gathered here. No one was quite sure what was going to happen, but this was Draco Malfoy. You could never be sure. And no one was gonna miss it.

Everyone was standing on the edge of their feet trying the see what was going on. I slowly felt my breathing speeding up, as I kept staring at Draco.

He held out the flower to Pansy and she giggled: "How did you know it is my favorite flower?"

I might as well have just puked on the floor. I raised my gaze to the ceiling and stared at the light, ignoring my glowing cheeks.

"Pansy I have a question for you," Draco began. She couldn't hide her smirk. Some might even say she looked bored.

Draco continued: "Will you go to the Yule ball with me?" His mouth twitched into a wicked smirk, as he kept looking at her.

You've got to be kidding me.

Complete silence consumed us. Every pair of eyes were planted on Pansy.

What a great way of apologizing, I must say.

I felt so immensely stupid. I don't know what I'd expected, but this wasn't exactly on the list.

The crowd broke out in cheering and I guess I didn't have to figure out her answer.

I stared at the ground and slowly felt a knot tighten in my stomach. I looked up and saw Draco whisper something in Pansy's ear which made her giggle. God, I wanted to rip that pretty smirk off so badly.

But then, everything stopped as I looked up, and found Draco staring at me. He kept holding my gaze, his mouth slightly twitching into a smirk. It was almost like...

No.

Just as I'd thought my breathing had steadied, the air was completely knocked out of me.

My heart cracked lightly as Draco grabbed Pansy around the waist and pulled her close to his chest. She buried her hands in his hair as their lips were drawn together. None of them broke apart, and I watched as the world around me slowly got blurred. People faded, and noises were subdued. I could faintly hear whistles and shouts as I stumbled away and tried to find my way towards the doors.

I felt like I were slowly just being drawn into the darkness where no light would ever set its footprints.

I only looked back one time before I left, catching Draco looking at me in triumph.

And then, as when I felt everything within my heart slowly shatter, Draco formed 4 words with his mouth. Each a pure blow of pain.

It. Was. Never. Real.
