(CHAPTER NOT EDITED)
Song= What a time- Julia Michaels (Feat. Niall Horan)
Harry
Draco and I still hadn't talked about the party. Actually, we hadn't talked at all. Which probably also meant we'd both forgotten that this was the day we were supposed to present our presentations.
And I had... Nothing prepared.
Quietness conquered the classroom as I entered it. I found a seat in the back, scanning the room after the familiar blonde hair. He was nowhere to be seen.
"Let's see..." Professor Trelawney said as she scanned the list of names.
I looked out of the window, finding dancing shadows, covering the sky. Droplets of water were running down the glass, blurring the vision.
"Let's start with Mr. Potter and Mr. Malfoy."
I turned my head and felt everyone's stare fall upon me. I bit my lip and looked down at the wooden desk in front of me.
"Malfoy isn't here," I said.
She studied me before saying, "Then you can just present your work alone, that's fine."
I couldn't believe this was happening.
"I'm sorry, I just don't think my project is completely done yet."
My cheeks grew red as she stared at me. I wondered if she'd even heard me.
"Of course, of course, " She said. her eyes clenched slightly together as her gaze remained plastered onto me."I'll try to fill you in sometime later on. But don't expect a long extension."
I looked at the ground, as giggles went around in class, my name being thrown around in low mutters.
I let class pass by as everyone else went on telling me about how they wanted to continue their education. Some wanted a family, some didn't. After an hour of gazing at the door, there was still no sign of Malfoy.
After everyone had finished, I hurried out of class, before Professor Trewlaney could object. I paced down the hallway and spotted Cedric, standing a couple of lockers away. He noticed me as I came closer to him. His face lit up and made his eyes look warm. My shoulders fell back, releasing the tension I'd been holding on to.
"Tough class?" He asked.
"You can't even imagine," I laughed. We looked at each other, so many things still unspoken between us."About the other day..." I began.
"If you're going to ask if I'm okay with how everything ended the other day, the answer is still yes. "
I found myself too stunned to answer, "How did you-"
A wide smile had spread on Cedric's face. "Your face looked way too serious when you approached me. It was an easy call."
I laughed. I laughed. This was so much easier. Why couldn't all this have worked out differently? Why couldn't I be different? This was easy, safe. No worrying, no yells, no disappointments.
"Why the sad face?" Cedric asked. pulling out a book from his locker.
"It's nothing, really-"
"Harry, you know I'm still your friend. right?"
I looked up from the ground and met his concerned face.
"Of course." I breathed. "It's just that-"
I went completely still. Something was off. I turned around and felt shadows creep along the corner as I walked towards it.
"What is it, Harry?" Cedric asked, confused. I stopped, looking back at Cedric, a worried glance flashing on his face.
"Nothing, I just thought I heard something."
I returned to his locker, realizing I had been saying something.
"You know what, I don't really want to talk about it."
He kept looking at me and I was desperate for a subject change.
"Who's your date to the Yule Ball?"
Cedric looked like someone who'd expected everything but that, his face just twitching into a smile as he said, "Oh, I've actually asked Luna to the dance."
"Luna, huh?" I smiled.
"Yeah, she isn't exactly easy to oversee, and after 7 years of knowing her, only now I discovered we have an awful lot of things in common concerning our mutual love for literature," he said gesturing to the volume placed under his arm.
"How crazy," I grinned.
"Yeah, it is. So don't look surprised to find us hidden away in one of the corner tables."
"I can only imagine.."
"What about you?" Cedric asked.
I felt how my stomach tighten as I looked at the ground " Oh, I think I'm just going to go with Ron and Hermione."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
Silence consumed the hallway and I looked at my watch.
"Sorry, but I'll have to go now- Oliver's got us training like crazy." The lie came out easier than I'd imagined. Why did I just do that?
"Yeah, I can imagine."
"See you at the ball?"
"You'll know where to find me," Cedric grinned at me, already halfway down the hallway.
I turned my head as I passed the corner sensing something there. But when I looked I was disappointed to find nothing but old, hidden dust.
Sorry, this is a short chapter as well:(
