I carefully placed my feet in firm steps as I walked towards the Quidditch pitch. The oversized clothes hang loose around my body. I hated it.

I hadn't raised my gaze from the ground as I stepped onto the green grass and continued into the middle. I immediately noticed the red robes among the green ones and my eyes shot to Madam Hooch, standing in front of the crowd. She didn't even spare me a glance as I placed myself beside Justin Finch-Fletchley.

Gryffindors. My stomach twisted as Madam Hooch's voice silenced the crowd.

"Welcome everyone. As you can see the two houses are again gathered, and that is simply because we had such great results last time." Her eyes shot to a shadow hiding in the back of the Gryffindor crowd.

I quickly spotted Potter, standing beside Seamus Finnigan. He looked at the ground as numerous stares followed him.

He met my gaze and I put my hand behind my back giving him the finger as a smile spread on my mouth. He clenched his jaw and tightened his fists. I liked this new game.

"This will be your second and last task, therefore your only chance to prove your spot on one of the teams."

She sighed as if this was the last place she wanted to be.

"Thus, we must do tryouts for every position today."

A murmur went through the crowd.

"Those of you who are trying out for Chasers will go over there by the goals along with the Keepers where Captain Oliver Wood will guide you through the tests."

I watched as the crowd around me dispersed.

Seeker. That's what my father wanted me to be. And that was what he expected to get.

"Bludgers, you will wait for me over by the tool shed while I quickly assist the Seekers."

Another big sum vanished, among them the boy beside Potter. Only four students remained. I gazed at the small group. 2 Slytherins. 2 Gryffindors.

Potter was one of them. Of course, he was. He flinched for a second when he noticed I was still here too, but then quickly returned to his usual calm.

"Listen," Madam Hooch said.

"If you're still here, it's because you wanna try out for Seekers. Some say it's the easiest position, others say it's the hardest. But you don't have to care about that. All you have to think about is that there is only one position as the Seeker on each team, and there are four of you."

I glanced beside me and met the stare of the other Slytherin. He didn't look like a threat. He was smaller than me, but with more meat on his bones. His hair was long and fell into his face, the positions of his feet placed awkwardly.

I flashed him a grin while Madam Hooch continued.

"In two minutes I will start the mini drone also known as the Golden Snitch. It will fly around the field freely but hidden. Your job is to find the Golden snitch and catch before the others. We nodded and started to spread out.

The four of us placed ourselves in each corner of the field, waiting for the signal to be given. We placed our feet solid in the ground and set off as a loud bang filled our ears.

Doubt quickly ran through my head. I only hesitated for a second.

But then I ran. I ran with all the power my legs could endure. If I succeeded with this, maybe everything would fall into place.

I don't know how I managed to get my feet to move this quickly. But I did. My heart was thundering behind my chest, and all noises were kept out of my ears.

And then I froze. I simply stood completely still on the field, scanning the area. There was no sign of the Snitch.

I quickly glanced at the others. We'd all spread out on the field.

I spotted the light-haired Gryffindor girl. She looked just as lost as I felt, which made me not feel completely stupid.

Potter was out of sight.

My heart pounded in my throat and nausea went in sync as I started running again.

After a couple of minutes, I stopped. I went still on the green pitch and closed my eyes. I listened to everything around me.

A slight breeze kissed my cheek, but it was wild enough to cause the usual crashing sound inside of my ear.

I kept listening. I listened to the wind. The sun hitting my cheeks. My heart pounding through my chest. I probably looked stupid as hell, but it was my only chance now.

And then I heard it.

The weak little buzzing from a tiny machine flying around. I sat off running towards the sound.

The tiny little metal drone flew around the goals at the edge of the pitch facing away from the school.

The closer I got, the clearer my vision got of the little gold ball flying around, just above the grass.

I had my eyes fixed on it and sprinted with all that was left in me.

I was almost there. I started reaching my hand into the air, feeling the air around the snitch tickle my hand. And then a huge crash struck me.

It was a whirlwind of skin and clothes and hair and... Potter.

We'd slammed right into each other, resulting in both of us on the ground.

My shoulder screamed of pain from the collision and pain was sent through the rest of my body.

I cursed beneath my breath and realized...

I was lying on top of Potter with my hand on his wrists. My head was beside his ear, and if I didn't move this could turn very awkward very quickly.

Potter moaned, and I tried to sit up.

Four layers were all that was between our skins.

I came across Potter's legs, the upper part of my pants brushing against his.

I blushed deeply and managed to stand up. A smirk spread on Potter's lips.

"It's not so fun being vulnerable like that is it, Malfoy?"

I was startled for a moment before I said, "Don't flatter yourself, Potter."

And as if I weren't already pissed enough, I noticed the little, gold metal ball entwined between his fingers.

"Unbelievable," I murmured.

I didn't know if he'd heard, but he certainly didn't hear the things I cursed after him as he ran to Madam Hooch to show her the Snitch.

I stared at him while he strolled over the field.

I thought of the deal at the carnival. He should've known it was nothing but empty promises. One should be careful when making deals with shadows. You'll never know when they'll strike. And when they do, one should know that not even the loudest screams could keep you away from the consuming darkness.
