Harry

Every part of my body longed to get off that Quidditch field. As soon as Madam Hooch had approved the trial was over, I hurried off the green pitch, not even sparing Malfoy a glance.

But beneath the embarrassment from the crash, a spike of excitement also sparkled. I'd won. Again. This time I just wasn't sure it'd been fair.

Malfoy's grey eyes popped into my head as I went under the Bleachers and into the school. They'd been full of disappointment when I'd walked away from him. Not anger necessarily. More like fear. But for what?

I didn't have time to dwell on the question any further, as Ron and Hermione joined me from behind. A large grin was plastered onto Ron's face, a little grin tugging Hermione's lips.

We hurried past the empty hallways and soon reached the Great Hall. We entered, silent whispers tracing my steps.

We sat down at the Gryffindor table next to Dean and Seamus. I glanced at them and saw pure excitement on their faces.

After a long time of silence, Ron finally spat out, "You were brilliant Harry!"

Hermione gazed at me and grinned, her eyes filled with warmth.

"Well, thank you Ron, but uhm-"

I paused.

"Oh no, you don't think you can just do that to us do you?" Dean chuckled. "You have to tell us everything."

"Yeah, it's not fair to only let Ron in on all the fun," Seamus agreed.

They all paused to look at me, each of their gazes curiously fixed on me.

And then I told them everything that happened. I told them how everyone had disappeared until only the Seekers were left. I told them how I'd spent several minutes feeling like I was searching for pure air. And lastly, I told them about my crash with Malfoy.

The beating behind my chest sped up, and my breathing turned heavier.

I turned my head and heard Ginny giggle a few heads further down the table. She quickly turned away as she saw my stare.

But then I felt a finger tapping my back. And I turned my head to find Ron nodding in the direction behind me.

I spun my head to look and felt the immediate regret rush over me.

Malfoy's grey, cold eyes stared me down from the corner of Slytherin's table, everyone else just suddenly disappearing around us. He looked at me as if he waited for my disappearance. As if he just stared long enough, his wish would come true. I shivered and turned to Ron.

"Should we go get some food," I said, hoping my voice wouldn't reveal the worry lying beneath.

A smile spread on Ron's face as he nodded. I breathed in relief as we rose from the table and walked over by the white wall where the waiting line started. I sighed and leaned against the cold concrete wall.

Hermione had followed behind us and now talked indistinctively with Ron as I focused on the line. But then I noticed something.

I could sense Malfoy's presence long before he was marching towards me. But it was too late. With fists clenched together and his eyebrows meeting in the middle he walked straight into me and slammed me against the firm wall.

This would not end well.

"WHAT THE HELL!?" I shouted in his face. Already then, my lungs were screaming, my heart not able to follow.

If the whole school hadn't been watching me before, they sure as hell did now.

"You wanna know what my problem is?" Malfoy said, once again slamming my back into the wall, the pain going straight through my spine. I clenched my face as small breaths escaped me.

"YOU!" He shouted. His hair fell in front of his face as he came closer to me. "You're my fucking problem, Potter!"

His breath hit me in the face and I watched his chest rise and fall in front of me. Ron stepped forward and tried to push Malfoy away.

"You stay out of this slugface," Malfoy winced.

"Take that back!" Hermione stepped in.

"You too Mudblood."

And that was it.

I don't know what happened first, my fist colliding with Malfoy's jaw or his head finding my knuckles on its own.

An aching pain sprung from the bones in my hand, and Malfoy looked like he was about to pass out. He'd gotten a scratch on his lower lip and blood started flowing.

He placed his own fist in my stomach and all air was dragged out of my body. My lungs screamed for more air, but the second strike had already hit me by then.

Food plates dropped. Glass splintered. Screams filled the air as Malfoy and I were on top of each other threatening to tear each other's skin off.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!"

We both turned our heads from the ground and stared at the angry expression of Headmaster Dumbledore.

"I will see both of you in my office immediately."

I got up from the ground without glancing at Malfoy. We both left in silence as gazes of the whole school followed us.

I knew I might've just done the stupidest thing in my life.
