CHAPTER NOT EDITED

(Don't need a song)

Harry

When I woke up after the party, my head was twirling.

Not from alcohol. But from all the memories running through my mind as soon as my eyes opened. It was like doing it all over again. The music, the dancing, the bathroom. Everything was playing at full speed, and my head couldn't follow. It all seemed so unreal that I feared it might've not even been true.

I remembered the burning heat from Draco's hands as they moved across my skin. I remembered the inevitable electricity between our short kisses. I remembered how he held my hand just before he–

I needed it to be true. Anything else would be too cruel.

My shoulder still hurt a bit as I walked down the hallway toward Professor Sprout's class. Lucuis' words clung to my mind, Malfoy's numb look as he'd watched all of it replaying over and over.

As I passed corners and classrooms, my gaze couldn't help but notice big blue banners hanging from the ceiling in sorrowful bows. It was inevitable to miss the big advertisement clinging to each of them.

YULE BALL.

A yule ball? I turned around, spotting groups of girls watching me as I looked back at the banners. They giggled, as a group of guys walked by,

My feet started moving again, but I couldn't help but notice how the banners seemed to follow me wherever I went.

It also came to my attention that it wasn't simply just girls who were all worked up about this event. Small groups of guys were gathering as well, whispering silently to each other, wide smirks spreading on their faces as they discreetly put tiny notes into the girls' lockers.

All this joy and excitement were consuming and overwhelming at the moment.

Draco appeared in my head, and I instantly tried to shove him away. We still hadn't talked about what had happened, and so many things were still unsaid.

But Malfoy would indeed look good in smoking.

***

Days went by and I had done absolutely nothing, which left me with... no date. The ball was in two weeks and everyone seemed to have found themselves a date to attend with.

God, this was ridiculous.

"Have you found out whom you are gonna go with mate," said Ron, as he noticed me scowling at the posters in the hallway.

"Me? Don't you think you'd better start to look for yourself, Ron?"

He clapped me on the shoulder. "Well, I already have."

I stared him dead in the eye."That was actually quite funny," I smirked at him.

"I'm serious." He stopped. I looked at him, trying to analyze his face.

"Wait, you're actually serious?"

"Yes," he said, grinning as we continued down the hall.

"Who?" I asked, believing my jaw was drawn along the floor as we moved.

"What are you guys whispering about," Hermione said as she joined from behind. She slipped to my side and walked with us.

"Ron's got a date to the Yule Ball."

"Oh," she said, looking weirdly at Ron. He blushed and looked at me. Silence claimed the air between us. Hermione was awfully quiet as well.

"Yeah, I don't really believe it either," I said, taking that was what her facial expression meant.

I kept looking back and forward between them. Hermione looked at the ground, and Ron's face turned bright red.

"Do you two know something I don't?" They looked at each other again, and then away. We rounded the corner and walked outside towards the little greenhouse when I suddenly stopped.

"Wait..." I shook my head, not able to decide who to look at. "You two?"

Hermione made a grimace I think was supposed to be a smile. I turned to Ron. "What about Lavender?" He shifted on his feet and then mumbled under his breath. "She was never really the one I was interested in." He met Hermione's eyes and she smiled.

"How long-"

"Only a couple of weeks," Ron cut in.

"Weeks!?" I yelled just before we were about to enter, not caring who heard me. Both of them lost all color in their faces. "And why exactly didn't neither of you think it was a good idea to enlighten me of this very important information?"

"We didn't want you to think it ruined anything," Hermione whispered.

"Well, that's ridiculous. It takes more to get rid of me you know," I watched as they both let out a sigh, breaking into laughs. I let the joy disappear into the air, slowly returning to the seriousness. "But I really wished you would have told me though."

"And take away the spotlight from Harry Potter's exciting love life, no way," Ron grinned. I hit him in the shoulder and laughed as he ached in a grin.

We found our seat in what seemed to be a classroom before I leaned to the side and whispered to Ron, "Who knew before me?"

He looked around the room and then back to me. "Well, no one actually, besides–"

"Who?" I cut him off. He laughed.

"Well, Malfoy actually."

A shiver went through me by the sound of his name. Thoughts from that night rolled into my head, pausing everything else.

Then suddenly I was brought back to the classroom, and my attention flew to Ron again. I believe the confusion was jumping around my face.

"Don't ask," he laughed. I was about to ignore his request when Professor sprout entered the classroom and saved Ron's ass.
