CHAPTER 2.

The following day Hayley was playing with Hope on the living room floor when the doorbell rang, she got up to answer it and an older woman stood there with a pie in her hand,

"Hi my name is Connie Bussell and I live next door, I thought I would come say Hi, introduce myself and welcome you to the neighborhood."

"Hi Connie, I'm Hayley Morgan, come in," Hayley said as she stepped back and allowed the Woman in, she was friendly and human so no harm done and Hayley walked to the sofa motioning her to sit.

"I made this pie as a welcoming gift," Connie said as she placed on the table beside the sofa and looked at Hope who was looking back with interest at the new face, "Is that your Daughter, she's beautiful." Connie said.

"Yes, this is Hope, would you like a tea or coffee?" Hayley asked smiling, she could do this be normal, polite, Human...ish !!!

"I would love a coffee, just black, I have been looking after my 2 year old Grandson, Jamie, for the past week while his Parents, my Daughter and Son in law went to a work conference and I'm exhausted, I had forgotten how much energy is required to run after a 2 year old," Connie laughed, "How old is Hope?"

"Hope is 26 months and yes you do need a lot of energy around toddlers," Hayley replied as she handed Connie her coffee with a smile.

"Thank you, just what I needed, so are you Married, I see you wear wedding rings but one can never be to presumptuous these days, I mean you could be widowed," Connie said looking at Hayley kindly.

"Yes Married, Nik, his name is, Hope's Dad." Hayley felt as though she was speaking another language the words Husband and Nik feeling foreign in her mouth.

"Have you moved here for your Husband's work?" Connie asked next.

Shit Hayley thought of course humans always asked this question Klaus hadn't said anything about work, and thankfully, Klaus appeared to answer that himself covered in paint, Hayley had seen the downstairs art studio this morning when she woke, it had large windows that overlooked the Sea, and beautiful light.

"Hello", Klaus said as he walked in with a grin, "We moved here so I could paint, I am an artist," he said, "Nik Morgan."

"Connie Bussell, Nice to meet you Nik, an artist, well you must be doing alright to afford a place like this."

"I do alright," He replied not elaborating, as he continued wiping his hands with the cloth soaked in turpentine.

"It's lovely to meet the Three of you, you'll both have to come along to the street bbq this weekend we hold it at the front of my place, come along 6pm, Saturday, meet your neighbours my Grandson Jamie will be there, a friend for Hope to play with, Thanks for the coffee Hayley," Connie said, as she moved to the front door Hayley following.
