CHAPTER ONE.
Klaus begrudgingly walked into the faction meeting. He hated these things. He would rather be doing anything else but attending in place of Elijah. Elijah had demanded he attend in his place while he took Gia away for a dirty week. Of course it was a bloody week, everyone else had dirty weekends but not Elijah he wanted a whole week and Klaus was stuck here. When he finally got up the courage to take matters to another level with Camille he would skip town too for a dirty weekend. Klaus thought with satisfaction then pursed his lips, thinking he was not sure the sweet human with advice was really that sort of bedfellow for him. This internal debate he had with himself over Camille and their relationship was endless. She was strong for a human but she was just a human after all and had no intentions of becoming a vampire. This is where his mind always got stuck. Freya waved to him as head of the faction for witches. Klaus headed towards her. Marcel was already seated at the head of the table. Klaus sat opposite Freya to Marcel's left.
Hayley clenched her teeth. Pissed at her husband Jackson taking off to go bloody fishing when he was meant to attend the faction meeting as Alpha of the Crescent pack. She was again having an internal battle with herself over giving in and marrying Jackson three months ago in the Unification Ceremony for the good of the pack. Her strong bloodline and his family pedigree combined enhanced the pack. She had finally found remnants of her family four months ago after searching her whole life for her roots. Adopted out as a baby and never knowing her family or pack. Then she found them. They had been released from a curse put on them twenty years ago just a month before she arrived in New Orleans and found her wolf pack.
She had been betrothed to Jackson at her birth. At first she had baulked at the idea, some outdated prearranged match with someone she didn't know had made her shudder, but in a supernatural city like New Orleans her marriage to Jackson could strengthen the pack. So she gave in and married him. Finding family had meant everything to her.
