CHAPTER ONE.

Lured by the scent of blood Hayley went to the isolated cabin close to the cliff sea wall. The wind howling.

She crept silently to the door and heard a baby squalling, the smell of large volumes of blood dispelling her hesitance in opening the door.

 She gasped at the sight.

Shakingly she went to the bloodsoaked bed and lifted the naked newborn.

One handed she pulled the pillowcase from the pillow and wrapped the tiny baby tightly and held her close, rocking her.

Hayley' eyes slid over the two people in the room and picked up the letter on the bedside table. She read through it looking down at the infant, she felt tears prick her eyes for the baby's loss and kissed the soft blonde fluff. Pulled her phone out of her pocket and called him.

"Klaus, I need you to come to the isolated cabin in the bayou. It is at the furthest eastern end of the bayou, close to the cliff sea wall."

"Busy love. Mother to find, aunt to kill," He missed hearing her low urgent tone, his mind on a million other things.

"You listen to me Klaus. I need you to come now," She replied angrily forcefully, brooking no further argument from him.

She heard him snort, then the sound of him whooshing away.

Then the cabin door crashed open startling the baby who screamed in fright.

Hayley scowled at him and rocked the baby shushing her and humming, "Honestly Klaus you are an arsehole at times," She whispered harshly to him.

His blue eyes looking contrite, he walked towards her and peered at the baby.

"Please tell me this is not what it appears to be," He looked into hazel eyes.

She nodded.

Klaus winced.

First he knelt down next to Ansel, his resurrected father and felt the neck, feeling the snapped bones.

Standing up he went to the bed and looked down at Esther, smelling the birth on her, blood smeared down the inside of her legs, her slit throat the bloody dagger at her side. Her blood covered and soaked light lemon coloured dress, all bloodstained down the front of her dress. A vial of her blood sitting on the bedside table.

Hayley stood beside him having quietened the baby girl down again. She handed Klaus the note.

Hesitantly he took the note from her hand.
