We'll Find Her

Adam and Kevin went to Med, where Will was working. Will was surprised to see them, since no one had told him they were going to talk to him, not even Jay, who Will expected to be the one to call first if there was any news of Teresa.

"How can I help you guys?" Will asks as he closes the door to the empty lounge room.

"We are officially declaring Teresa missing," Kevin says with empathy in his voice. "Her brother has confirmed that she never went to see him on Sunday like she said she would. So, the last person to see her was you, doc."

"She never went home?"

"No. And no one has seen her or heard of her," Adam confirms. "So we're gonna need you to help us out a bit."

"Yeah, sure, anything."

"Okay, so why don't you tell us what happened before she left to go to her house?"

"I mean... it was a normal morning. We woke up and had breakfast and then she went away. I took her downstairs, we said goodbye on the street and that's the last I heard of her."

"You tried to call her?" Kevin asks.

"Yeah, yesterday morning, but her phone was off."

"You didn't call all day Sunday?" Adam asks doubtful. "Not even to see if she arrived home safely?"

Will shrugs. "She can take care of herself and doesn't like it when I call unnecessarily, so I waited until Monday morning."

"Okay, tell me about this... You two had a fight, a couple of days prior to her going missing."

"A fight...?" Will asks confused at how Adam knew and why he was questioning him. "We had a small argument, that was easily settled."

"She left your apartment and went boxing with Antonio, who was concerned she'd break something of his," Adam says accusatorily. "Now, before I came here Antonio told me to ask you all about it because Teresa was extremely upset about the fight you two had."

"I'm sorry, are you accusing me of something?" Will asks upset.

"No, Ruzek is just trying to see if there was any reason for her to... leave."

"You think she left?" Will asks confused. "No, no. Why would she? Something must have happened to her."

"What was your argument about?"

"I, uh... I said I thought she was hiding something from me."

"Was she?"

"She said no."

"You didn't believe her?"

"Teresa was barely sleeping," Will says taking a seat, "even before Olisnky's death, so that wasn't the only thing... And her brother was texting her some weird things—"

"What things?" Kevin asks alert, sitting across the table from Will.

"That he was done babysitting, or something, and I asked Teresa about it, she just said she didn't know."

"So there was something?"

"I don't know, maybe."

"Antonio and Kim went to talk with Teresa's brothers, so I'll tell them to ask about the texts," Adam says before leaving the room.

"Okay, so doc..." Kevin continues. "You know Teresa better than me or Adam, better than Jay, I suppose. So, would she drop everything and leave? For any reason at all?"

"Teresa is many things, but she's not a coward or someone who runs away... She wouldn't leave. Despite everything she enjoys her life in Chicago. With me and her work... she enjoys it."

"As you said before, she knows how to take care of herself, so we have to look at all the options that don't include something happening to her. And her family isn't the easiest to deal with..."

"Teresa seemed really happy on Sunday. And she wasn't faking it, I can tell when she is. She was genuinely happy. And she was coming back."

"Okay... And you got no news whatsoever after she went on her way?"

"Nothing at all." Will drops his head in his hands. "If she didn't even get to her house... it has been two days since I can know for sure that she was alright. Two days."

"We'll find her," Kevin assures. "We will."

"I want to help in any way I can."

"Thanks. Antonio and Burgess went to speak with Teresa's brothers, so what you could do is tells us if there's anyone else who she may go to for help, or even just speak with her brothers as well, see if you guys can come up with any ideas where she could be."

"Teresa doesn't have many friends... I mean, I'd say you guys, the guys at Firehouse 51... Other than her family she never spoke of many people at South Side. I know she used to get along with a couple out there, who used to take care of her and Toby when they were young, but she never really spoke about them much."

"Thanks, doc. If you can remember anything at all, no matter how little, please let us know."

"I will, yeah."

"Hang in there," Kevin encourages as he sees Will trying to hold back tears.

Kevin stands up, pats Will on the shoulder and then leaves.

"Man, what the hell was that?" Kevin asks when he meets Adam in the waiting room.

"What?"

"You go at him about some fight he had with Teresa? Just like that?"

"Well, Antonio said it seemed serious and you know that in most cases, when a something happens to a woman, it's a significant other that does it."

"You could clearly see he was concerned."

"We can't just dismiss an option. Not even for someone we know," Adam dismisses it.

"Come on, let's see if we can talk to Connor before going back to 21," Kevin says knowing there's no use arguing. "After all, he used to date her as well."

Will leaves the room to go to the bathroom and splashes some water on his face. He needed to go back to work and do what he was supposed to do. But wondering where Teresa might be, what might have already happened to her, was making him crazy.

He just remembered the last smile she'd shown him. How happy she seemed after everything that had happened — their fight, Olinsky's death, her not sleeping and seeming uneasy the whole time — as if she had the weight on her shoulders lifted.

Teresa's smile, her waving at him as she walked back, ready to go and be back sooner than later. When would he see her smile like that again?
