*This isn't an episode storyline, it's extra story for Teresa and it's set between 5.13 and 5.14 :) Enjoy!

Teresa knocked on the door and soon after Severide opens it. She had called him and asked to talk to him. He had replied that he was going to meet Casey at Molly's and that she should go there, too, but Teresa insisted on talking to him home.

They were standing near the kitchen table

"What did you want to talk about?" Severide asks relaxed.

"Look... you've been there for me no matter what," Teresa starts with a shaky voice. "And most days you were the one keeping me on the tracks, you know? Helping me proving that I'm not my parents, that I wouldn't become a drunk and an addict when things got hard... But I'm being unfair to you, and I'm going to make it right."

"There is nothing to make right, Teresa." Severide says with a light-hearted smile.

"Yes, there is. It's not right of me to continue to let it happen. You deserve so much more, Kelly... It's wrong of me to stop you getting it."

Severide stood quiet now, understanding where this conversation was going.

"We shouldn't be together. I'm not a good girlfriend right now and I should figure things out, and you should be with someone who is always there for you in ways that I can't be."

"We shouldn't be together?" Severide repeats calmly.

"Yeah... I think for the best of us. And I don't want to... you know... end up hating each other. So, if that means letting go of you now-"

"Hey," Severide interrupts with a kind smile and holding her arms gently, "no one is letting go. If you think that it's for the best... I mean, I do really like you, and I wish things would be different, but we live different lives and have our different ways... But no matter what, I'll always be here for you. And although you think you haven't been here for me, I know that whenever I need something, you'll try to help me out."

Teresa smiles with sadness and gratitude. In her mind, this conversation would have taken a completely different turn, for the worse, and would have ended with them fighting and Severide loathing her for ending things with him when he had been so kind and generous and loving with her.

"We don't need to be dating to be there for each other." Severide affirms with conviction.

"Thank you, Kelly. For not hating me."

"I could never hate you, Teresa."

"I really want to stay your friend, Kelly. And to talk to you and hear your grievances once in a while."

"Oh, you'll be hearing my grievances a lot!" Severide affirms playfully. "I'll call you every week to talk about how terrible the world is. Starting now, in fact! Can you believe this amazing girl blew me off? And, you know me, I'm a catch for anyone. People wish they could get this," he points at himself, "everyday all day."

Teresa scoffs, "That girl must be out of her mind."

"I know right?" Severide asks with wide eyes. "Come on, let's have a drink at Molly's."

"I don't know, I should go home..."

"No, no. Teresa, you just broke my heart. The last thing you should do is deny me my request of having a drink."

Teresa looked at him for a few seconds, making sure that this would not be a bad idea.

"Alright fine. One drink."
