Next Monday Teresa went to the academy to do her exams and testing. She had spent the weekend studying everything she could, making sure she'd know anything that might be asked. In the afternoon, she did the physical testing, with 75-yard run, sit ups, push ups and a 1.5 mile run. As she trained outside of work, had endured much worse in the Marines and work itself was sometimes like a training session, she easily passed the physical test straight away.
After the long day she went home to rest and on Tuesday morning she went to work. Voight asked her how all the exams and tests had gone, and she told him she was awaiting a positive outcome.
"Listen, get in." Voight asks as Teresa was just standing at the door. "Shut the door and take a seat."
Only after she's sitting down across the table from him does he speak again.
"I know that the police academy is giving you a different way to graduate, with looking at the cases you take, missing some lessons and all, but it'll still be hard on you and you won't be here every day. So, I'm putting Halstead back on the game."
Teresa just slightly nods, a bit confused on why Voight was discussing that with her.
"Look, I think you and Halstead work great together, but I need to make sure he's doing good and you're still a recent member of this team. Still, I'm giving you the choice here: either you're partnered up with Jay again, or I'll put him with Olinsky and you stay with Antonio."
"Sergeant... I think you said it all. Jay and I work great together, and he's really taking therapy seriously."
"You understand that one little toe out of line, you have to tell me straight away, right? No giving him time to work things his way. You come straight to me, Logan."
"Yes, Sergeant." Teresa agrees with confidence.
Voight stares at Teresa, studying her, making sure she understood he wasn't playing around and that he was putting his trust on her and that breaking that trust was not an option.
"Okay. You're working with Antonio until the end of the week. I think by then you'll have your results from the academy."
Knowing that was her dismissal, Teresa stands up and goes back to her desk.
At the end of the day, Teresa and Antonio were in the locker room alone. Jay was still in the bullpen, working at his desk. Atwater and Olinsky were also there, but Kim and Adam had already left and Voight was taking care of some business he didn't share, at least not with Teresa.
"You look tired." Antonio points out.
"I've had better days." Teresa admits.
"Are you concern about the results from the academy?"
"No." Teresa confidently says. "The physical testing, I know I passed with flying colors. I don't doubt any of my results, other than I don't really know how they get the results from the psychological testing, but I think they shouldn't have anything against me."
"Good, no need to worry about that." Antonio zips his bag up. "Want to go grab some dinner? My treat."
"Sure, why not." Teresa agrees since she didn't have anything better to do and she knew she wouldn't sleep for at least another few hours, no matter how tired she was.
They go into a busy dinner, sit down and order some food.
"Listen... I know that it has been tough on you, and that you don't have your brother to talk to, but I have a sister and I have taken you under my wing and God knows the moment you proved you deserved your place in Intelligence I considered you family."
