Next day Teresa woke up early and quickly got to the District to start investigating. Voight and Alvin got there soon after.
"How long have you been here?"
"Not long, Sergeant. I just wanted to start working as quickly as possible."
"Good, because we need to figure this out. Tonight no one goes home without having progresses."
"You are going back on the streets to find out. We have patrol officers checking out every street to see if something comes up, whether if it's a dead body or another kidnapping."
When Jay arrives, he and Teresa head out and start looking around at South Side. By lunch time they are exhausted and defeated. Then they hear patrol officers on the radio saying a white van with no license plate dropped something and drove off. They were in pursuit. Teresa tried to find out what the people at the van had dropped but the patrol officers didn't stop to investigate because the van drove away when they turned up and turned their sirens on.
"Jay, we need to check. If it's one of the kids..." Teresa says as Jay speeds off to catch up with the van.
Jay then checked with Antonio and Kim on the radio where they were and they said they were also in pursuit. Another patrol car joins in the pursuit so Jay informs that he'll stop to check what the van dropped. Whatever it was it was wrapped in bed sheets.
Teresa and Jay got closer and then Jay moved the sheet to reveal a very pale face of a young boy.
"Dispatch, this is Detective Halstead. We got a body at my location." Jay says into his radio.
Soon after the street is closed, Voight is with them and the body is being taken away. The patrol and Antonio and Kim lost the white van they were following but they were now patrolling the streets with four other cars looking for it.
"You two go inform the family and then head back to the district." Voight commands.
On the drive to the dead kid's parents, Teresa kept quiet with her head against the headrest.
"You okay?" Jay asks when he parks the car in front of the house.
"Not really."
"I'll do the talking, don't worry. It's your first time dealing with this anyway, so you best just watching quietly."
That night no one went home, trying to find the white van and searching for people that owned vans like the one they were looking for and lived in Chicago. At South Side police was being slurred at, since only in the last couple of weeks three kids went missing, two of them showed up dead and the police had no suspects in custody.
"What kind of crazy person dumps a dead body in the middle of the road, in the middle of the day and in the middle of a police investigation?" Teresa asks as Jay drives the car slowly, both looking at either side of the road trying to spot something suspicious.
"Some psycho that thinks he's unbeatable."
"As of now, we haven't proved him wrong. It only makes him more dangerous."
"It also makes him reckless... Let's just hope the next time he shows up we can get him."
The sun was starting to raise, and they got in contact with Kim, who had headed back to the District trying to find the white van on either street cameras or some registration of it.
"We have an address." Kim says.
Even before she shares the address Jay starts driving faster, then quickly getting in the route to get to the house Kim told them could be the house of the kidnapper and murder.
