"This is crazy, you know?" Jay says as they drive to South Side, Teresa without her gun, badge or bulletproof vest.
"Voight approved." Teresa simply says.
"Yeah... he's going crazy, too."
Teresa looks at Jay and smiles.
"So... Julia Logan? Your mother?"
"Yeah. She married Theodor when pregnant with my brother. But, Theodor never stayed with her. He'd show up from time to time, and clearly started another family with some other woman."
"Does it get worse?" Jay asks. "I feel like if you tell me more, I'll hate that guy for what he did to you."
"When he would show up, he was drunk or high or even both... Sometimes I had to clean his vomit... He smelled like shit most the time. And then, after a couple of days he'd sober up and while my brother and I where away at school he'd look everywhere for the money we'd made and saved up and he would take it with him, to get more drugs and alcohol..."
"Jesus... It must have been really rough on you."
"It was."
"I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. Going to the Marines helped a lot. I was finally out of there and doing something important."
"Listen, something goes wrong, we're listening. We got your back."
"I know you do."
All the cars stop in the street before the house's street. Teresa is the only one to exit the car. She closes the door and starts walking without looking back. She could hear Voight on her ear.
"If something seems wrong, just say the word."
"Copy that Sergeant." Teresa says normally, as if he was right next to her and not hearing her trough a wire.
She walked calmly to her door. Two cars passed by her but kept going and there weren't many people on the street. Teresa got to the house she grew up on. She took a deep breath before opening the low gate and then going up the front doorsteps. She knocked twice even thought she could have probably just walked in, knowing the door wasn't locked.
Teresa heard heavy steps before the door was swung open and then she was looking straight at the end of a shot gun, ready to fire.
"Who the hell are you?" The man asks violently.
"He has a shotgun!" Teresa can hear Jay in her ear.
"Alright, let's move." Voight says.
But before they can start their cars and get there, Teresa does what she always did well while at South Side.
"This is my house. You wanna keep me out? Better start shooting!"
Teresa puts her hand on the side of the shotgun and makes the man point it way from her, then proceeding to go inside the house.
"Where's Julia?" Teresa asks looking around.
"I don't know. I'm not her babysitter."
"But she lives here, right?"
"Yeah. We pay her to stay here."
"We?" Teresa asks looking back.
In the kitchen, past the living room and near the back door, Teresa sees Tyler and Tom standing there.
"Tez! The hell you doing here?" Tom asks going to meet her in the middle of the living room.
"I came to check on Julia."
