The team started working quicker on the case as the first clues came together. Everyone was searching their own thing and finding more evidence and witnesses that would help the case quickly.
Voight was the one to interrogate one of the men they could get to the District but soon some other men came and ordered for the man to be released.
Teresa was now with Ruzek and Atwater when they were passing by and Sergeant Platt spoke to them without taking her eyes off the computer screen.
"Hey. You guys talked to Halstead lately?"
"Few hours ago." Atwater responds. "What's up?" He asks as the three get closer to the front desk.
"Well, as the kids say, he's blowing up the internet. And not in a good way." She then reads one of the coments, "Child killer is racist too."
"What?!" Teresa asks.
This case could ruin Jay's career, and, imminently, his life.
"He's another: racist cop punched African American cop for no reason."
"No, no, no." Ruzek says as he gets to Platt's side to look at the computer screen. "That guy was harassing Lindsay, sent her a bunch of perverted texts."
"Wow, that didn't take long. The ACLU and NAACP are now demanding that Chicago PD fire Halstead."
"Are you serious?" Atwater asks.
They are left speechless. And Teresa was getting more and more worried about Halstead and his future.
The investigation continued the next day, with Adam and Antonio going undercover. They went to a bar to meet up with two other guys, one of them the suspect Marcus. Kevin was already there, waiting to be a decoy if needed.
Voight was starting to test the ground Alderman Ray Price, who didn't deny was behind the fake headlines telling lies about Jay and accusating him of things that didn't happen. Voight wanted to know more so that soon he could play for Jay's safety and place on the team.
When one of the guys saw Kevin look at them and Kevin talked back, Adam got himself in the middle and when the guy started pulling out a gun Adam, punched Kevin hard. They kept up the act as other two guys made Kevin get out and Antonio pretended to held back Adam.
The scene made the man feel a little bit more at ease with Antonio and Adam, but he still wasn't giving anything away.
The team met outside a little far away from the bar the guys were in just a few minutes before. They got the wire set and would now start to ready themself to arrest Marcus.
At night they silently broke into Marcus' house. The team quietly starts clearing the rooms, knowing that Marcus would most likely be asleep in the bedroom. There was movement on the bathroom so Kim opened the door with Antonio covering her. It was just a young girl. Kim quickly gets the girl and covers her mouth so she doesn't make a sound and gets away from there with the girl.
Next was the room. They went in not so silent anymore, Marcus woke up and tried to reach for the gun, but no matter how close it was he had too many guns pointing at him already, he didn't have the time.
Teresa takes the woman that was with him out of the room. Then, with Marcus on handcuffs, Voight checks his abdomen and takes of the bandage he had. It was exactly where Jay had say he shot the other day.
The next day Voight went to Lieutenant Denny Woods' office and starting to make Halstead's defense. Starting by showing that Marcus was shot like Halstead said.
Then Voight does what he does best and slightly blackmails Ray Price with a photo he had of him and a gang member. They come to a compromise, of course.
