You Need Help?

Teresa couldn't help but smile as Will shouted, "Hey Tez! You're gorgeous!"

"You're too much, Will Halstead."

"Aren't you going to compliment me?"

"Nope. You're ego is too big as it is. No need for more wood in that fire."

"I love you!"

She didn't say it back. She'd say it next day, when she got back to his apartment after work. It was already well known to Will that she loved him, she said it often, but she also didn't feel the need to say it everyday, or every time they parted ways.

As she walked she wondered if she should take the 'L', since it was a long way to her house. But, if she were to take the 'L' she would have to change her route to go to the nearest station, and she would have to get the ticket and be in a wagon with probably too many people and no personal space whatsoever, so she decided to just walk.

It would be good for her to walk anyway, and even if it was cold, it wasn't raining. She'd be at her house in no time.

Walking, still with a smile on her face thinking about Will, she wasn't watching where she was going. Only a noise made her look up. In front of Teresa was nobody, so she turned to the side and look across the street, where the noise must have come from.

Teresa looked at the sidewalk and saw a guy and a ripped grocery bag spilling its contents onto the street.

She looked both ways and then crossed the empty street. As she got closer, she saw that the guy had a broken arm on a cast, which was probably the cause of the trouble.

"Do you need help?" she asks as she starts picking up some of the groceries on the floor.

"Thank you, thank you." The guy replied as he tried to gather some with his good arm. "Sorry to bother you."

"Not at all," Teresa dismisses since the guy was probably having a tough time. "Do you have an extra grocery bag for these?"

"I'm afraid not," he replies with a smile.

"Uh..." Teresa looks at the back and front of the street. "I don't see a store nearby where I can get you an extra bag..."

"I live just around the corner, don't worry," the guy says as he stands up as well. "Just... could you put that in this bag...?" he says raising, with his good arm, an intact bag he still had.

"Yeah, sure," Teresa starts picking up oranges and small stuff and puts it in the already full bag. "I don't think it would hold the milk even if it had the space," she says raising two milk packages in her hands.

Teresa tries to think of something she might offer to help with take what was left on the floor, including the milk.

"I can look for a nearby store..."

"No, no, it's fine. I live just around the corner," the man says. "Just leave it here and I'll come back for it once I put these down," he says raising the bag in his hand.

"Well... if you live around the corner, I could just take these to your house," Teresa suggests.

"Oh, no, I don't want to bother you..."

"No, it's fine. You're going that way, right?" she asks pointing at the way she was going.

"Yeah. It's just around this corner. Don't worry, I'll just come back for these."

"I was going this way, too. It's okay."

"Are you sure?" the man asks.

Teresa chuckles. "I'm sure. If I wasn't I would have just gone away after the first time you told me it was fine."
