The funeral

(This is Y/n's funeral from the perspective of Julieta!)

I stood, holding Agustins hand, unable to contain my tears. We walked out in Casitas courtyard and stolen next to my mama. Below us stood the rest of the town, and Y/n's family who had came back to Encanto as soon as they heard what had happened.

The town shared collective sobs, sniffles and sad faces as they looked up at my mama. I leaned into Agustins side as Pepa and Felix same out to stand next to us. It was so unusual to see everyone dressed in black and I never wanted to see them doing so again.

All the heads turned together as Bruno exited his tower door and stood on the other side of our mama. His eyes were red and puffy, tears will still running down his cheeks as he avoided looking at anybody.

I noticed him twisting his wedding ring around in his finger and my heart clenched in sympathy. It had been only five days since Y/n's death and nobody was going to get over it so quickly.

The coffin holding Y/n's body was decorated in colourful flowers and raised on a platform above the crowd. Casita slowly carried the coffin to our mama and she placed a hand on it.

"Five days ago we lost Y/n to a tragic accident." My mama said. I buried my head into Agustins shoulder, not wanting anybody to see me cry. "We're here today to say our goodbyes."

My mama talked through the funeral before stepping back and letting Bruno step forward. I looked up again and restrained fro breaching out to hug my brother as he let out a shaky sob. Bruno laid his hands o bathe coffin and leaned his forehead against it silently.

I clutched tighter to Agustin as Bruno's body trembled with heart breaking sobs. The crowd looked up with sympathy at Bruno, knowing how hard this all was for him.

I couldn't help but rush over and hug him at the same time as Pepa as he whispered "I love you" under his breath to the coffin. We both wrapped Bruno into a hug and he leant into us, still crying.

Rain poured down from the sky just as it has been for the last five days, soaking everyone. "I miss them so much." Bruno whispered, making me hug him tighter.

After the rest of the funeral the coffin was brought outside to the spot Bruno had chosen to have them buried. A team of people carried the coffin around the side of the house where a hole had already been dug. They lowered the coffin down and covered it over.

After Y/n had been buried Bruno immediately retreated to his room again. I spent the afternoon with Pepa, eating pre-made food to take our minds off the funeral.

I took a small bite from an arepa and wiped a dry tear off my cheek. Y/n was gone and the grave outside of Casita made it so much worse.

But at least the food tasted good.

(Okay that's the end of this one shot but I'll be writing lots of them today since they are less than half the size of my normal chapters!)
