"Holy shit," Glenn muttered, walking over to Tony's dead body.
"You alright?" Rick asked him.
"Yeah."
"Hershel?" Rick looked over towards him, and he nodded. "Gen?"
"Fine. I'm fine." I answered.
"Let's head back," Hershel said. Rick grabbed the gun Tony was carrying and grabbed extra bullets from his pocket.
I grabbed Dave's gun and put it in the waistband of my pants.
"Car!" I whispered, and we all got down. Our backs were pressed against the wall, and people got out.
"Dave? Tony? They said over here?" An unfamiliar voice asked.
"Yeah."
"I'm telling you, man, I heard shots." Another guy said.
"I saw roamers two streets over. Might be more around here."
"It's hot. We gotta get out of here." The third guy said.
"Dave! Tony!" One guy called.
"Shut up, you idiot. You wanna attract them? Just stick close, we're gonna find them." Two of them walked past the door, while the other one stood in front of it. But then they all walked away to search another building.
"We can't sit here any longer," I whispered after Rick and I went over to Glenn and Hershel.
"Let's head out the back and make a run to the car." Rick planned.
Gunfire settled, and we moved back to our original spots.
"We're looking for Dave and Tony and no one checks the damn bar?" One of the men asked. They walked up the steps and went to open the door, but Glenn jumped in front of it.
"Yo, is someone in there? Yo if someone's in there, we don't want any trouble. We're just looking for our friends."
"What do we do? Bum rush the door?"
"No, we don't know how many are there. Just relax. We don't want any trouble. We're just looking for our friends. If something happened, tell us. This place is crawling with corpses. If you can help us not get killed, I'd appreciate it." They walked away.
"They drew on us!" Rick yelled back. I looked at him with wide eyes.
"Why would you tell them that?" I muttered to him.
"Dave and Tony in there? They alive?"
"No," Rick told them.
"They killed Dave and Tony." They muttered a couple more words.
"Your friends drew on us. They gave us no choice. I'm sure we've all lost enough people, done things we wish we didn't have to, but it's like that now. You know that!" Rick said, almost like it was an apology to Hershel. "So let's just half this up to what it was, wrong place, wrong," Rick tried, but a gunshot fired, and broke the glass above Glenn.
Rick and I retaliated against the group, letting Glenn and Hershel move to the back of the bar.
"Hey! We all know this isn't gonna end well! There's nothing in it for any of us! You guys just back off, no one else gets hurt." Rick called out.
Glenn ran towards the back room because of some noise, leaving Hershel by the bar by himself.
A gunshot went off, making us shoot up.
"Glenn!" I yelled out to him.
"I'm alright! I'm alright!" He called back.
We moved back towards the back room. Hershel and Rick were near the wall while I was near the bar. Rick and I were gonna cover for Hershel, and wait for Glenn to run to get the car.
