It was the next day. I hadn't talked to anyone besides Carol since we got back from the search yesterday.
I hadn't even left the RV. Until Glenn had forced me to come out. Carol was sitting over the fire making breakfast, while everyone had begun eating.
"Morning, Gen. You hungry?" Carol asked as I walked past her.
"No, I'm alright. Thank you." I sent her a small smile and then sat in a lawn chair near the small fire. I saw Shane glance at me before he walked over to me.
"You should eat." He whispered to me.
"I'll be fine," I said, not looking up at him.
Glenn stood up and walked towards the tent.
"Uhm, guys." Glenn stuttered. "So, the barn is full of walkers." He announced, and everyone looked up at him.
We all made a trip towards the barn, and Shane looked inside.
"You can't tell me you're alright with this." Shane stormed over to Rick.
"No, I'm not, but we're guests here. This isn't our land." Rick said.
"This is our lives!" Shane yelled.
"Lower your voice," Glenn whispered.
"We can't just sweep this under the rug," Andrea argued.
"Okay, we've either got to go in there, we've gotta make things right or we've just got to go." Shane gave the two options. "Now we have been talking about Fort Benning for a long time."
"We can't go."
"Why, Rick? Why?" Shane asked.
"Because my daughter is still out there." Carol jumped in.
"Okay. Okay, I think it's time that we all start to just consider the other possibility." Shane looked around.
"We're not leaving Sophia behind," Rick said.
"I'm close to finding this girl. I just found her damn doll two days ago." Daryl stepped up.
"You found her doll, Daryl. That's what you did. You found a doll." Shane argued.
"You don't know what the hell you're talking about." Daryl got in his face.
"I'm just saying what needs to be said. You get a good lead, it's in the first forty-eight hours." Shane yelled.
"Daryl found her doll! That's the only evidence we have, and it's pretty damn good!" I stepped in against Shane.
"Shane, stop!"
"Let me tell you something else, man. If she was alive out there and saw you coming all methed out with your buck knife and geek ears around your neck, she would run in the other direction." Shane looked at Daryl.
The two started to fight, and Rick got in the middle.
"Let me talk to Hershel. Let me figure it out." Rick tried.
"What are you gonna figure out?!" Shane screamed.
"If we're gonna stay, is we're gonna clear this barn, I have to talk him into it this is his land," Rick explained.
"Hershel sees those things in there as people. Sick people. His wife, his stepson." Dale jumped in.
"You knew?"
"Yesterday I talked to Hershel."
"And you waited the night?" Shane looked at Dale.
"I thought we could survive one more night. We did. I was waiting till this morning to say something, but Glenn wanted to be the one." Dale said.
