Not really a warning. I'm just letting you know that this one's gonna be long or at least longer than usual. It's the longest chapter I've written actually. Hope you enjoy!
With the usual knock of the door and being let in, the room grew quiet. Quieter than usual. She had a feeling of figurative whiplash as the atmosphere drastically changed to grim as she entered the room. Siyeon's determination to find the culprit suddenly changed to nerves. She wondered why she was starting to feel this way. All she was doing was relaying notes, so why did this task seem more difficult than it should be? She had to keep going, though. She didn't want to let the boss down. "Good afternoon, sir. I've got all the notes. I'll share what I have so far and if you need more questions asked, I'll be happy to do so."
"You would, would you? You'd do anything if it means you get to have your life back on track. You told me as much."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't fool anyone, Siyeon. It wouldn't be wise to do so. Especially with a man like me."
"Really, I don't know what's going on. What's happening?"
"I guess I got to spell it out for you, huh? I know it's you. We all know."
"Know what?"
"Denying it until the very end. Unbelievable." Mr. Park put his hand to his head before he continued. "Siyeon, we know you're the one stealing money from me."
Siyeon couldn't believe it. Why would he believe such a thing? He trusted her. At least she thought he did. "No. It wasn't me. I would never do that to you. What makes you think it was me?"
"I had someone come to me with evidence. You can come over here now." From the side of the room, a figure started to walk towards them. When Siyeon focused on who she was, she was completely shocked. Standing there next to Mr. Park was Mira. The only maid she'd ever grown close to. She should know that she didn't do this. Why is she here accusing her like this? What "evidence" did she even have?
"Mira? You know I didn't do it! Remember, we were talking to each other yesterday in our rooms. We were sharing work stories."
"I don't remember anything like that. You should know as much as anyone here, that nothing too exciting happens."
"But...That's what you told me! You're the one who said we talked! What is going on?!"
"I'm exposing the truth. I had a suspicion ever since you accepted his offer that you were up to no good. When you told me you were kicked out of your house and had to work at a coffee shop for a while, everything pieced together. That's why you took the position as soon as you did. To have closer access to Mr.Park. To be able to get close to his money. Who else would be able to do that? The maids? The gardeners? They don't have access to the things you have. That would be ridiculous, wouldn't it, Mr. Park?"
"It makes the most sense. I couldn't believe it at first. You didn't seem like the kind of person to do this, but not only do we have verbal evidence, we have physical evidence as well. We found this by my computer." He held out a blue hairclip that was unfamiliar to Siyeon. "You should know what this is right? You have an entire collection of it on your vanity."
"What are you talking about? That's not mine! I don't even wear hairclips!"
"C'mon Siyeon. We both know that's a lie. Do you expect older maids to wear something as childish looking as this?" Mira looked at her with a wicked grin.
"It's not a lie!"
"Enough!" Mr. Park's voice boomed throughout the room. Scaring not just Siyeon, but Mira as well. Neither of them thought he would lose his composure. "I'm sick of your bullshit! You are out of here! I assumed you spent the money. Just get out of here, so you won't take any more!"
