I shot up, frantically opening my eyes as I searched around. I scanned the room as I realised I had woken up in a large bed, a small light creeping out from under the heavy curtain,
I sat up quickly as I looked around wondering where the fuck I was.
I was in a dimly lit room still in my clothes from travel, blood still covering my hands as I felt my dried tears still on my cheeks. I quickly reached over as I grabbed a glass of water on the side and inhaled it, the cool liquid soothing my throat.
I felt my heart tug as I looked around, Damien. Where was he?
I jumped out of bed as I started running, slamming the door open and ran through the halls, calling out his name. Tears rolled down my face as I searched every room, praying that he was here.
As I turned the next corner I ran straight into a figure and I fell back onto the floor, the air leaving my lungs. I lifted my head as I braced myself ready to fight but as my eyes adjusted I saw Dagger was looking down at me his arms crossed,
"Come on now, he's been calling for you. And we can't afford for him to break anything or anyone else" he said as he led me down the stairs and into another room. As we walked in I saw Damien stood in the middle of the room, his wings fully extended as he baring his fangs at the wolves around him. The shadows curled around the walls, flicking angrily as he growled a them,
"Where the fuck is she, you cannot keep her from me. She is mine and I will kill you all to find her. I am never letting her out of my sight again, so you better fucking find her and bring her here now or so be I will drown you all in your own blood" he growled as I gasped my body lighting on fire upon seeing him.
This wasn't anything like what I had felt with Brand, that all seemed like a cheap illusion compared to how I reacted to Damien now. I felt breathless as if my mind wouldn't and couldn't think straight.
How had I never noticed how handsome he was before, he was the most gorgeous man I had ever seen in my life, how could I have been so fucking stupid to have ever picked Brand over him?
The sight of him made my knees feel weak and all I watched to do was leap onto him and ride him until I could no longer walk. My heart and mind felt full within his presence as if that had been something that was always missing and he completed me.
He was the thing I had always been missing.
I pushed past Dagger as I ran straight to him, my legs moving of their own accord. He immediately turned to see me as I leapt into his arms and he caught me wrapping his wings tight around me, covering us from view,
I stroked his face as his breath fanned onto my cheek and I pulled him close, our lips connecting again as I moaned deeply, tingles erupting over my body and my heart swelling. As we pulled away I wiped a small tear that rolled down his cheek.
Finally, something felt right. And I knew I was where I belonged.
"It's okay Damien, we are okay" I whispered, stroking his face again as he slowly unfolded his wings, the wolves watching us cautiously.
I turned to face Dagger as Damien growled, wrapping his arms protectively around me, his wing also slyly tucking in front of me, covering me from their view.
"She knew this would happen" Dagger said as I narrowed my eyes, peaking over the top of Damien's wing, "You need to explain immediately, before we kill you all" I warned as he shook his head sighing,
"She should explain it, not me" he said as I frowned looking up at Damien who slowly lowered his wing, however his arm quickly wrapped around my waist. "Come on, follow me" he said reluctantly as Damien grabbed my hand and followed Dagger, keeping me very close to him, as if he was afraid to even let me out of his sight for a moment.
