As I finished getting changed, after enjoying my very own cold shower, I was sat down in front of the mirror brushing my hair.

I let out a sigh as my head fell into my hands, what the hell was we going to do. It was killing me having to keep myself away from him and it wasn't just the sex I needed. I needed him. I needed to be complete, I felt empty without him. As I dived deeper into my thoughts I saw the red begin to flow between my fingers and I let out a loud groan.

These fucking powers. I needed to get a hold of myself. I was soon to be back at the Celestial Stronghold with Brand, and that was going to be the hardest task of all.

The current situation had no comparison to that.

Having to pretend to have no emotions and to hate Damien, to pretend to be Brands mate and that I knew nothing about him and his plan. The thought of it made me boil with rage. I felt my power begin to flow more as the red seeped out across the desk and I gritted my teeth, taking a deep breath and pulling it back inside me.

Surely there was a spell I could use to help us? Why did I not think of it before, I just have to make sure Cyrene doesn't see.

I turned looking at the door before flicking my fingers shutting it slowly and quietly. I turned back inhaling as I crossed my hands my mother's book appearing before me as I turned the pages searching for anything,

"There must be a million fucking spells in here" I muttered under my breath as I closed my eyes holding my hands out, "Something to control lust" I whispered as the book flicked through quickly landing on a page,

"This could work" I breathed as I began to read through the spell but as I did it almost felt as if a figure was standing behind me. I turned around quickly glancing but there was nothing there.

I frowned turning back as I continued to read through the pages, it wasn't too hard, and Cyrene did say I needed practice. However she did make it strictly clear not with this book, but I knew I couldn't find anything anywhere else to help me and I was desperate.

As I held my hands out I felt a small breeze against the side of my face and I quickly turned my eyes glowing as I searched, but again I saw nothing.

As I turned back I felt a breath down my neck followed by a light whisper, quiet enough to pass for the draft echoing through the room,

"Do the spell" I heard the voice call to me as I turned again my hands lit up as I searched, "You know you want to do the spell" the voice said again as I turned to face the other way. The voice hypnotised me as I felt myself being drawn towards the spell.

"Complete it, you know you can do it" it whispered as my head felt scrambled and I felt dizzy, my mind began to slip as I heard someone outside the door and my eyes snapped open,

"Lillian?" Damien said as he entered the room, "Yes?" I said as I turned around smiling at him, the book gone, and no evidence left of my attempt to complete another dark spell.

"I felt something off in the bond, are you okay?" he said concerned as I smiled, "Of course" I said as I stood up and walked towards him, "Come on let's eat" I said as we walked out the room, but not before I felt something scrape lightly in my mind before stopping,

Almost as if the voice had missed its chance to get through.

I shook my head as we continued down. It must be lack of sleep and a guilty conscience, I had told Cyrene I wouldn't use that book, so I won't, I wouldn't break my promise.

As we walked down and sat at the table with Cyrene and Dagger, I saw them in a discussion, with Cyrene holding a small scroll.

"What's up?" I said as she smiled at me, "Perfect timing Lillian, it has only just come to my attention that the winter solstice is tonight! An event that as the Witch colony leader I now host. Due to our previous mission I lost count of the days, but a ball is to be held tonight to celebrate. Witches all from all over come and meet up, it is a rare occasion and one that I feel is essential to you".

"There are certain witches that only come out twice a year, for this and the summer solstice, and they are just dying to meet you and understand more for your own and everyone elses sake. You are the guest of honour, and therefore will be the one to lead these celebrations, under the moon you will experience your first enlightening." She said as I raised an eyebrow, not understanding a word she was saying.

Cyrene chuckled lightly, "That is where you and your powers become one, and it is something some witches have been waiting millennium for. Waiting for the erebus to show herself" she said as I bit my lip nervously,

"I can't hurt anyone right?" I said as she shook her head laughing, "Of course not Lillian, the moonlight is a gift from Hecate herself, who is only permitted to roam from her banishment on the Winter Solstice, she will bless you herself, and therefore give you what you truly desire, knowledge" she said as I gripped the table hard my eyes turning a deep red, Damien swung his head to me as I took a deep breath, my power dissolving,

"Lillian?" Cyrene asked as I opened my eyes shaking my head,

"That woman has done enough; I don't need an entire night dedicated to her. I refuse to be blessed by that old hag" I hissed as Cyrene gasped, "LILLIAN SILVERBACK! You take that back right now. I will stand for a lot of things but slander against our most prestigious goddess will not be tolerated" she growled angrily as her eyes turned a faint green and the room shuddered,

I scowled as I leant back and sighed, "Cyrene, I apologise but you don't know her like I do. She's my grandmother" I muttered as the green disappeared and her eyes widened,

"Oh my gods, of course, it makes sense now, I think I know which book it is!" she breathed before teleporting out of the room leaving us all staring at each other.

Before we knew it she appeared back next to me slamming a book down in front of me as I yelped jumping out of my seat spilling my tea all over me,

"Oh gods I am so sorry" she said as she waved her fingers green power flowing over me as the wetness dried. "Thank you" I muttered putting the cup to the side as she pointed at the book, "This is for you to read" she said as I frowned confused,

"The book of the Damned and Exiled? Why on earth would I need this?" I said as she grimaced,

"Well for starters, it carries your family tree within in, and secondly it may help you collect some truths on why everything has happened." She said as I ran my fingers lightly over the book, my red power flowing gently,

"Lillian, unfortunately you have no choice tonight, you must attend, and you will do so as my guest and as my friend. It is customary for the witch to wear the colour of her powers and I'm sure you can come up with something. I however must go collect my dress, I'm not the lucky one who can create whatever I need at will" she winked as I smiled,

"How am I sure I won't be dressed the same as someone else?" I questioned as her and Dagger walked out of the room, "Oh that's simple Lillian. You are the only creature to possess red magic, none of us have strength or skill to wield that kind of magic, it was made for you alone" she said as she left me and Damien alone in the hall.
